Additional compass skills

There is a skill to have wildlife show up on the compass.

How about a skill or skills to have materials show up on the compass. Like clay, gold, gems, lava, gleam…
compass skills would have to be selectable so you can turn on/off some so it doesn’t become too cluttered.

There were suggestions somewhere to create a miner specific skill letting a player recognize presence of certain resources in area.
Can’t remember in what topic it has happened.
Builders are already getting a specific skill letting them control position of placed blocks, so maybe miners will get something like the sixth sense for rare resources.

it might be cool to have a technology tool to do the same thing. usage would degrade the tool over time.
another tool is a gloable communicator to accses planetary chat.

So, a skill that would let miners better track down the rare resources they seek.

For obvious reasons, a sort of sixth sense to detect sources of materials is incredibly over powered. It would basically make non-miners relatively ineffective compared to specialized miners. I don’t think this is good for game balance.

So, what skill might a master miner learn that would give them a slight edge over the typical miner, but not make them far overpowered?

Dwarf legends give a possible answer. According to legends, master dwarvish miners learned to listen to the echoing of gold seams to tell the size, and where they lead. They could also tell if another dwarf miner had laid claim to the same seam by listening to the tinking of hammer and chisel against the seam.

What if we could learn an ability like this in boundless? A sort of way to locate nearby seams of a resource by tapping on a near by visible node? Tap a gold seam, and catch a glimpse of other nearby gold ore for a brief second. You may not know exactly how far away the node is, and you may lose track of its location before you get there, or may have obstacles in the way, but you at least know the right direction to find more!
