Boundless Trade Network

Hello everyone!

One of the very VERY few things I don’t like doing in Boundless is running around endlessly to find items for sale that I want to buy. More often than not, I never find them or I don’t feel the price is reasonable. It’s for this reason that shopping has become more of an opportunity activity than a useful endeavor. I wanted to create a way to make the market function more efficiently and encourage healthy competition. I want to get people excited about shopping in Boundless again!

To achieve this I’d like to reintroduce you to a project I’ve had planned since backer early access, Boundless Trade Network. It’s now deployed for it’s original purpose, a self service market tracking website (and still a pretty handy crafting calculator tool too).

Boundless Trade Network

https://boundlesstrade.net/
.

Features of the site:

Create shops

  • You can create shops that have the exact planet, coordinates and instructions making it easy for people to find your shop when they view an order of yours:
  • You can share your shop link. For instance, my shop is here: https://boundlesstrade.net/shops/1/alpha-shop

Create both Buy and Sell orders

  • All orders expire after 48 hours in order to keep data on the site fresh.
  • After creating an order you are brought back to the same order creation screen with your shop and order type populated with your last submission. This allows you to enter orders much more quickly.
  • Orders can be renewed before they expire, this will reset the timer and present you the opportunity to update the price and/or quantity.
  • Expired orders can be used as a template to clone a new order with the same parameter values (which you can change if you wish):

  • Open orders will show up below the crafting calculator tool work-space, and on the front page:

  • Search filtering makes finding just what you’re looking for fast. You can also sort the columns:

To create shops and orders, registration and email verification is required. This is required in order to limit/stop potential abuse of the system. Browsing orders and shops does not require registration, however.

There are many features planned, but I wanted to get this initial version released to the wild to see if it’s received well. If people actually use it, I’ll develop things like support for forged items and colors (which is missing at this time) among many other things (cough UI and AJAX cough).

So since it’s a “beta” released tool, don’t be surprised if you encounter issues. Please PM me or find me on discord Fuzzy#1000 if you want to provide feedback and or ideas.

I hope both buyers and sellers find some value in this tool!
Thanks!

It’s a great idea, and someone is already doing something similar.

I did add my shop to the other system, but it’s just too much work to enter in all the items and update it every couple of days. Prices and stock levels are changing too often, especially if you’re selling a diverse range of products. Smaller shop keepers should jump on it, and hopefully gain some new customers.

In my opinion, the only way something like this could work was if it was officially in game. Perhaps a guild run machine that it’s members can use to search the market place. Limit the search results to about 20 random shop stands and place a coin charge for each search to discourage mass searching for the cheapest price.

I like it. I am not sure who else is doing this. I will look into it on the weekend.

Thanks!

I agree wholeheartedly that in game solution would be the only true way to make this easy… or even an API we could use to access for people who provide it would be really handy.

To the point of big shops, there are some “bulk” edit interfaces planned, which I think will help with large orders.

Created a shop.

It’s the hardest for really big shops with a lot of stands and baskets, where a lot of orders disappear within minutes.
Can be valuable tool for shops like mine - smaller ones and with less traffic. I still have things that are gone minutes after putting for sale (or budget gone in baskets), but a lot of things need days or even a few weeks before they are sold, so it’s doable for me to keep it updated I think.
And there are many shops out there like mine I guess, that could be visited more if more people have an easy access to info like this here, quick look before actual trip somewhere is a time saver.

I’m definitely going to give it a try.

Awesome, nice work. I registered The Golden Fist and threw up a few sell orders. This will be good to make buy orders for when we need something urgent.

This is something I think should exist in the game. I can only see it becoming even more of a demand when there’s hundreds of worlds and tens of thousands of players running around at the same time.

I like it a lot would be nice to know who’s shop owner cuase I buy from friends first if I can
