Yes, that is how it works.
I would expect this to be expected behaviour of us but it needs clear visual indication of each fuel type to make it fair.
Gleam Club fuel remaining: 1w 2d
Crafted fuel remaining: 0w 0d
and a warning when you don’t renew Gleam Club/before it expires.
All i know is if you do not visit your plot within a certain amount of days the gleamclub no longer effects that beacon, the timer runs out pretty quick the longer you do not visit, unless it is your master beacon thats always fueled by gleam club.
This is 100% wrong, i have a plot fueled by gleamclub that i have not been to for a month now. it is still there.

I would imagine you start getting the standard 7 day notifications when GC runs out, as you get 7 days of fuel as a buffer …

I dont know what to tell you i had a test patch just for this purpose, had 10 weeks of fuel club membership, assigned a seperate beacon as my master and didnt visit the other site for a week, after that week the gleam club no longer effectes that beacon and in about 3 days jt expired and my plots were returned.
Im on the ps4 by the way, wierd aint it. Must be a bug or glitch for some, unfortunately the game is unplayable for me otherwise i would test it again.
if that is the case, i would report it as a bug, the gleamclub is supposed to ensure that you cannot lose anything

I dont anymore, for some reason it just keeps getting worse 
Also i had no idea it was a bug just seemed like something that makes sense, if somehing is abandoned then it is reasonable for thise plots to be available for someone sooner, not only the plots but the resources also.
What i failed to test is going back to the plots close to the expiration, i should have went back for a second or minute to see if the gleam club effect would resume when their was only an hour left.
Honestly that guy was up to no good, I’m telling everyone this, I’ve been watching that spot for the past week and he comes and posts the same day it falls, he honestly posted within 12 hours after it fell? He knew it was going to fall , his time that he bought was up a week ago, I didn’t even know gleam club gives you an additional free week
