I would never underestimate the power of simply…leaving people alone. You don’t necessarily even need to work things out. People could simply decide not to pursue feuds with other people. I just mean, there is really no need to do things like make alt accounts to follow people around or plot near people who are mad you. You also don’t need to choose to block in people who do those things. You have the power to decide not to continue making things worse and provoke other people. Sometimes it is best to leave things in the past. Walk away, and let people do what they will. You cannot control anyone but yourself, but you can choose to take the high ground and ignore what other people do. This is a small community, and if everyone chose to be their best self there would not be many problems. Live and let live.

o hey, if your portable a/c isn’t working; check the air filters for a felt remix of the other cat you didn’t know you had

Maybe we need another little rule, as a caveat to no naming or shaming you are allowed to mention reasons for banning, and breaks in the code of conduct, as how is it shaming if you are just explaining to the rest of the community how the individual broke the rules.

I know we don’t need to know, and obviously monumental have no need to give a reason to the community for each ban they have to make, but blocking conversations people are having trying to make sense of it for fear of a bit of a squabble seems like bad practice.

Perhaps one little forum post saying who has been banned, and what rule was broken, this feels like it would serve as a better reminder to the community that a generic post of the rules and firefighting against the information seekers.

@monumental might want to take a look at the WOW forums, they let people openly communicate about their banns and after reading a couple of the posts and replies it seems to go well. I understand they have the staff, but why are you silencing the community’s discussions…

If this game ever gets popular, this tyrinical approach will lead the fourms into chaos.

What every game needs, and especially Boundless, is a forum not run or moderated by the games company. Official forums should be limited for announcements and feedback.

Maybe, does not seem like the right answer to me, just a little change in their approach and we would be able to have open discussions with out any damage to the company, and a whole lot more respect from their community. They must have a very ridged management structure that needs to protect those who work for the company at all costs, perfect for appealing to people looking for a long and safe career, which is great.

Just imagine boundless gets another 1000 players, and there are a couple of groups rather than individuals with a dispute, this approach will lead to lots of malicious and underhanded behaviour because people cannot feel heard, and the rest of us cannot understand…

Its going to create a huge amount of faf and work in the future if they ever intend to make boundless popular, and is not helping keep faith for the small community they already have…

I don’t understand why people think it works otherwise other than protecting a bubble of shallow engagement.

I’ve updated my review of the game and I’m just over it now…

Every company has different rules on how they run things. Having worked at many small companies and some fortune 500 companies it’s pretty normal.

Heck I’ve been laid off 3 times in varying ways. Once I was called to HR and told I was being laid off then escorted out and had to come back a week later to pick up my things from my desk. Rules aren’t always the same and games and forums are no different.

Point is there are rules and we may not always agree with them, but we also don’t make them. If a rule is broken an action will be taken and that is the way it should be.

Lastly, just remember there are two sides to every story. That goes for Monumental and drama.

I just want to enjoy and play the game as I am sure a lot of others do.

I enjoy conversation as well as just simple gaming… especially around contentious ideas, leads to new ideas!

I was hired for a printing company as an inventory clerk. Their books were a mess. After spending 4 days, I got it organized. They fired me.
They called me back the next month to do it again. It was a hard pass. They went under a couple of years later.

So, yes, they do have different rules. But that doesn’t always mean that the company is not being run into the ground in the process…

That’s when you offer to take on the task as a consultant and charge for the value of the work rather than the value of your time. :joy:

I guess I’m not engaged enough to know what the drama is this go around. But as long as we have people involved, there will be strife. It’s part of our very nature. Overall I’ve met good and bad actors, friendly and unfriendly players. I get upset, i get over it, or i move to somewhere else (in game). The reclaim system has been a great tool for moving since they added it, but anymore I’m mostly isolated and only playing when the mood strikes me. I’ll be back with two feet in if we ever get news about active development.
