It doesn’t work out the way you think it works out.
Well, thanks for explaining.
Well, if you don’t have enough compactors to keep up with your furnaces, even reducing all crafting times by 90% won’t actually solve your problem if you’re looking for a steady flow.
Just, nevermind. Leave the craft times. Have a horrible new player experience. I see no problem here. Let’s move on shall we?
@majorvex had a great idea @james @Leahlemoncakes or anyone else in the development team if you could put your two cents in on this and take in some recommendations maybe give a couple of them a try that would be cool. I know the 50 or so active people on this forum probably make up 1/3 of this games player base but it’s still very much alive just needs some tlc and I’m sure we would all love to know what you have planned for the future of this game.
I don’t understand. I can’t express an opinion different from yours and attempt to discuss the issue overall without upsetting you?

I Think they should just remove coal and coils from the game all togethor muhahahahaha
Then Then Then Malls and Stores would vanish cause you can craft it yourself now imagine all that building space Muhahahaha
Joking Joking
Im not saying I agree with the crafting times, but I will comment on the NPE as I don’t think the crafting times are keeping people from playing the game.
No, it’s just that when something is so blatantly obvious, so beyond any doubt, so crystal clear as is the case with how bad the length of crafting times in Boundless is, that when somebody argues in their defense you just scratch your head and walk away. They are so bad in so many ways but we’re both staring at the same green grass and you’re telling me you think it’s blue.
What MMO has good crafting times?
Why is your truth the one that is objectively correct?
I’m at least trying to hear you out and understand why you think I’m wrong.
I was very careful to make sure all I did was express my own opinion and offer how I would tackle the issue. Your response was that I am wrong, it doesn’t work like that, and you’re done talking to me.
When you start mass crafting, which happens fairly quickly in the NPE (certainly before level 50 which could loosely be defined as the NPE) the crafting times quickly spiral out of hand and I’m confident players have and will continue to leave the game as a result.
Not an MMO but Satisfactory has good crafting times. They are measured in seconds.
Having had about 20 friends try the game and quit they never once complained about the crafting times. The majority liked the game just not the lack of players and a few didn’t like the P2W aspect which is debatable.
That’s my point… not an MMO. I have many hours in Satisfactory. It also has no player-based economy.
Okay well WoW, Rift, ESO and New World are all MMOs with player-based economies and all of them have near instant craft times. What’s your point?
I’m just glad we ain’t one of those MMOs that take 1-2 years RLT to craft one upgrade without paying for it xD hehehehe
SIgh I really didn’t want to talk about crafting times, but…
WoW you had professions, some items you couldn’t even craft unless you had said profession. You also had to build up the skill and have the level of said profession in order to craft on top of items. Beyond that, you even needed items you had to get from other players in order to craft said item. So while the crafting times were pretty quick, the time to get all the mats was astronomical along with some materials only allowing 1 to be crafter per day. It really depended on the item.
New World is pretty much the same idea as WoW.
ESO I didn’t play long so I can’t really speak to it.
My point is… crafting varies from game to game. I know in Creativerse people complained about things taking 5 minutes to craft bu then again I agreed as there was no economy.
I know the pain of making compact hard coal, but it’s the system we have and not a single person I have spoken to has said the crafting times made them quit. (Doesn’t mean they liked them though).
Lastly, I always and still feel Boundless must have gone through some “confusing” times. It is mostly a creative sandbox with some minor MMO elements (hunting, shops, economy). If you dropped the shops and economy the crafting times would be a totally mute point to me.
How do we know it doesn’t already reflect that? Mayhap they wanted it to take 7 or 8 in game days?
I think crafting timers is the least of the problems with this game at this time. but I come from a game with much longer crafting times.
Crafting times made me quit (among other things, obviously)
Point of fact, I gave up on crafting pretty early and used strictly guild funds, footfall, or stuff @Xaldafax bulk crafted for me for the longest time- I was not even engaging with crafting timers like OP was and it was still enough to impact my enjoyment of the game. I’m still here in the forums because I enjoy segments of the community and I want to see the game succeed one day, but I agree that removing or dramatically restructuring crafting loops will be a necessary step towards that success… as well as, well, y’all know… updates, communication, and promotion.
@Havok40k so if we had updates, they communicated and promoted the game you’d come back? Even with the crafting timers as they are?
EDIT: I had a few friends ask why the timers were so long that had quit and I really didn’t have an answer for them, but the majority if them I know if the game just had more players they’d come back and play the game. Timers weren’t a deciding factor. It sounds like to me it’s the same for you.
