Design: About the Oort Online gameplay loop

The reason you aren’t seeing most players on right now is because there is only the sandbox aspect at the moment, once combat and creatures kicks in, you’ll see me on the battlefields alongside a horde of players.

This formula looks really solid. I think it will even work with PVP. In fact it solves several pvp mechanics problems.

So here’s how it could work in parallel. I go to craft a gate to the next tier world, If I add an extra ingredient “Extreme Angry Sauce!” that gateway takes me to a PVP world instead of PVE one. Now i’m in a world with people of comparable armor and items, and its on like Donkey Kong. Progress through the loop. Open gate way to an even more angry world (T3).

So here’s how to keep the balance in check items of t3 cannot pass through the portal to a T2 PVP world you will have to leave them in your T3 base to travel back to your T2 world, equip with t2 items and play with players on that server.

Perhaps the items in these worlds could be unique or, slightly improved, or a different art asset to make players desire to go there.

You wrote “I go to craft a gate to the next tier world, If I add an extra ingredient “Extreme Angry Sauce!” that gateway takes me to a PVP world instead of PVE one.” (sorry but I can’t quote well on my mobile). That’s a quite good way to handle the choice of playing pvp or pve without the need of an out of game options menu setting". I love that idea!

Somebody talked about making a slight hue change in the portals that would mean different things. like pvp woulds would make the portal shine slightly red.

i just had an idea

imagine this is an oort shard, it is placed on the stop of the portal and it will shine different colors depending on the type of world you are about to enter, pink for pve and red for pvp.

Yep, but it should be the choice of the builder of the portal if it is to a pve or pvp world. But the shining effect you describe would still be cool and useful for players who find the portal and want to check where it may lead

I don’t really like that thing of needing to put your ítems if they are one tier more
That its fair for the others but unfair to you if you have sell them ¬¬
