You didn’t, which is why I asked. When reporting bugs/unexpected behaviours, certain inquisitive type people will join the conversation. You would be best served not taking their questions as some kind of personal attack. Also remember there are many reasons why somebody may not 100% understand something, such as the case above with “using different math”, and me not comprehending the fact that your 25 xp was the combination of 14 hits with iron spanner, and 4 hits with a stone hammer due to it being late, and me having just come up for a breath after playing ~12 hours of ONI.
To better understand the situation fully, further information is required. Due to not easily having the ability to reproduce your situation, I figured asking clarifying questions might help my understanding.

To possibly start at the end, I think the real question is “How much xp does repairing coils give?” @vdragon

I’d agree with @Mayumichi and @Prome3us, and go as far as say that each 600 damage repaired gives 1xp. But again, this is based on my 2nd and 3rd read through of this thread trying to get my head around the numbers, and a quick napkin calc.

Trust me @Xaviien, i would tell People when i take anything personal. You asked a Question, i was unpolite and asked a Question back instead of " i didnt wrote that"
And as i believe all the Information was given, as @vdragon seemed satisfied for the time beeing, i didnt see any further Need to expand the thread until i was able to give said missing info.
Due to the lack of wax, i am currently unable to help with the bug further. And it should not be my Job. A Dev has all the Tools needed to recreate whatever is needed on the Basis of the Information given.
Using Player time and resources seems to be the norm thou for this game/Company/Dev Team.
I cannot give the resources atm as i stated.

No personalattack issued to anyone or taken byanyone

Sorry it is late here, hence my double answer.

For the lower Paragraph of what you posted, it is not About how much xp per swing, in the end, it is About a continous Action giving less and less xp over time.

Yep, I understand, but I think the root cause is due to incredibly tiny amount of xp gained, which is causing a rounding issue.
https://forum.foundersfortune.com/t/rounding-error-when-building-removing-simple-wooden-floors/668

If you have 2 minutes spare at some stage, here is a very similar issue from a completely different game. The issue in that case is due to wooden floors costing 0.8 wood to build. Their solution is to always round down, to avoid an exploit such as you have located, where if you pause after repairing each coil, you get xp rounded up, thereby gaining extra xp. I 100% believe the problem isn’t losing xp over time, it’s about gaining xp in the example where you get 25xp per coil.

Again, my math may be way off, but even if the numbers are wrong, it would make sense that they chose to round up rather than give 0xp in some cases, rather than choosing to always round against the player as in the other example.

And completely understand if you don’t want to continue the conversation due to not wanting to use your time to figure out an issue.

I’ll try to keep in mind not to join yours in future, so as not to waste your time, but no promises, sorry. An alternative response for future interactions could be “I only discuss bugs with devs, not plebs, thanks.”

I appriciate the work you put in your Posts .
You are more then welcome to contribute to whatever thread of mine you stumble upon.
Nowhere did i say i dont want to continue the conversation other then it is not worth it as i lack proper resources to help at this Moment.

To the thread:
Yes i believe aswell it is a rounding error. The Question is how much is intended.
Seeing the numbers there must be more at work then a simple rounding error i think. But i am not a Dev and i have no Access to the Code. So all i can provide is numbers

As you (and a few others) have suggested that there’s a possible rounding error, I decided to send these comments off to a software engineer.

While waiting for a reply, I decided to use the information given in your posts to experiment.

I consumed a Teaching Pie and have a number of Advanced Power Coils with half the condition on each:

The condition is listed as durability on debug:

I have an Iron Standard Spanner:

And a Stone Standard Spanner:

Here’s my current XP:

When I used the Iron Standard Spanner 14 times and Stone Standard Spanner 5 times, the Power Coil was not fully repaired:

I received 7 XP (which is also reflected in the profile GUI):

The condition is listed as follows:

I get the same results for the remaining Power Coils.

Is there something I’m doing differently to you?

Just…wow.
Nice work i gotta say for sure.
For you i will tryto work with screen shots aswell, give me some…hou…minutes
Or i enable steam Play and you watch. Wouldnt that be better?
To answer your last Question first. Yes, i have spanner mastery lvl 5.

Isn’t Steam Play something that allows games to be played on both PC and Mac?

Otherwise, screenshots should be fine, depending on what they are.

Well if you have steam i can set it to everyone allowed to watch me Play, so you dont have to friend me and can watch in close to real time.

I normally have to check the game on Steam anyway, so it shouldn’t be a problem.

Just going back to your previous post, I have increased the Spanner Mastery to 5:

image

As before, here’s the current XP total:

image

I used the Iron Standard Spanner 14 times and the Stone Standard Spanner 2 times (as it’s already fully repaired by then and further uses were unnecessary):

I get 24XP from the Iron Spanner alone:

Repairing the rest gives the same XP.

Did you repair all in one go?
Or did you wait till the xp scroll text vanished?

If you repair each coil, waiting for the accumulated xp trigger to vanish then you will get the same xp every time.
If you do it as a continuous Action, you wont.
Or my Play is bugged.

If you mean holding down an input for using the Spanners until one Advanced Power Coil is completely repaired and waiting until the XP bar on the top right of the screen disappears before I move onto the next one, then yes, that’s what I did. Unless you mean I should press the input once on to get 1 XP, wait for the bar to disappear, then press the input again, wait for the bar to disappear once more, and so on until one Advanced Power Coil is completely repaired.

Oh, I have an idea. I have a setup on Testing, so if you want, I can get you to check it on there.

I will download the Client then.
Your char on live is still not able to come to besevrona i take it? :):sunglasses:

I can do that instead, if you don’t mind the fact that I will have a non-dev character on live. I will need to get to the destination from Sochaltin I in some way.

i will come over and open a Portal.
Coords on sochaltin?

You want voice Chat then we want discord?

I don’t have a microphone, but yes, I can use Discord.

Oh, and I will be at Lake City. Coordinates are 1,854N 415E Altitude 64.

itching for feedback once the test / engineers have had their way with the system! Just love these kinda tiny details :stuck_out_tongue:
