It does cost if it’s not in sanctum apparently. I just spent 3.4k twice now. But trying from sanctum does not incur any cost when I try, as you say.
Oh, and I also got “Server Slot Revoked” instead of “World Full” a few times.

Haha, yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they’ve got big chunks stripped down to mantle by the time I arrive.
