Fellow Minecraft players

We need to band together go over to the Minecraft forums and inform all of our friends that there is a much better game being built and we need to strengthen our numbers, there should be many more players on these servers!

Do keep in mind that some forums and communities like the reddit community will ban you for posting non-minecraft games.

I was being sarcastic about posting that a “better game” was being built I was just saying that the word needs to be spread, tell your friends!

Also, lots of hardcore Minecraft fans will say that this game is a carbon copy and terrible and whatnot. Try to not post around those types.

Or better try to lay low until we actually have some decent features to convince Minecraft players.

I do think that spreading the word about boundless is a good idea, but I think there are better ways to do it than going onto game forums advertising another game.

I play minecraft, i would say:

No all the minecraft players will like this game, the main problem is how placing blocks works (a bit akward) and the movement, wich is pretty “unsmoth” because in minecraft the movement is more precise than here

I would consider myself a, “hardcore Minecraft fan”. However, I see that Boundless is a completely different game than Minecraft, and that will become infinitely more apparent as the game grows and develops. But I agree, you have to be very careful around people who believe that Minecraft can be the only voxel-based game.

Just dropping it in a related conversation seems the most discrete way to go. We should make sure to not sound like blatant advertisers.

I play quite a bit of minecraft, and i think this game has alot of potential.
Im not gunna quit minecraft forever just yet lol, but i really enjoyed playing this game.

Imo coming from a heavy voxel game playing background, Boundless doesn’t trump many existing popular games in the genre on anything except graphics currently (how many users didn’t care about graphics?). The best we have now is how the game squares up against similar games at similar stages of development. Unlike most games Boundless hasn’t had the time to mature, right now isn’t a good time to go around advertising it like it’s better. I’m sure Boundless can trump vanilla Minecraft when it gets to 1.0, but modded Minecraft won’t be beaten unless there is the same quality and quantity (which takes time to mature also). Not to mention the custom builds that have been made on Minecraft which are lacking in Boundless. You would have to convince the building heavy users to switch with better and more versatile tools than a modded Minecraft if you wanted those types of builds. There is also unfamiliarity and a learning curve, the Minecraft players are heavily invested in that game already, to ask them to switch is a big ask right now and we don’t have the substance to back it up.

Frankly this game just doesn’t have enough features to go and talk about yet. It may just leave a bitter taste or a poor first impression and we don’t want to alienate the game’s target audience.

Tldr: Boundless must become a better game than Minecraft on multiple fronts if we ever want to attract their playerbase, currently it is not, so don’t spread the word

plus then it will get super crowded lol

I doubt it will get super crowded if the game becomes popular, in fact it would be much better.
More money = more developers = more features = better game (Most of the time >.<)
Also more players = more interaction = better community (Unless it’s filled with 7 year old kids)
Also the devs will be able to afford more servers.

I think in boundless’s case, money is no longer an issue since Playstation agreed to pick it up. What more money will do is more worlds, expansions, and longer post-launch support. The development is already going about as fast as can be expected.
