Forming Your Own Opinion

I still have a hard time blaming Square Enix for much of this. The only thing I might could blame them for was such a high price point. I do however see your point @anon34275467

I do not know what agreement Wonderstuck and Square had in terms of marketing, but I would venture a guess as to say not avenues were visited, but as it has been said by Square Enix the game really only fits a niche market and I fully agree. Quite a few games in roughy the same genre fall into this niche and most of them have very small communities.

We shall see what the future holds… I for one still have fun and still every so often buy a Sov or renew Gleam Club, buy I would be lying if it didn’t pain me to do so.

On this, I fully agree, and I’ve been on record saying the retail price coupled with the in-game store was a pretty bad model. People have fought me saying it would be terrible if the game became F2P. I still disagree, and I sort of believe the current status of the game only proves I might’ve been right, to some extent.

Beyond marketing, we don’t know much about the relation between the two entities (ā€œhu-hu, he said titiesā€ :raised_hand_with_fingers_splayed: < slap >). We’ve mostly heard pretty bad stories from @philelliott, but I don’t remember ever hearing much, if anything, from the perspective of Wonderstruck.

Well, when Hypixel announced Hytale, they got a HUGE boom, which seems to be what allowed them to get hooked with Riot Games. Sure, it’s mostly because their name was well known amongst Minecraft players, but I have a pretty big suspicious that Square Enix is just not that good with marketing, in general. Look at Babylon Fall.
I’d consider myself as fairly well informed in regards to upcoming games, and yet I first heard about it when it came out (because it was a sh!tshow), and as bad as it is, it doesn’t belong in a small niche : it’s a third person RPG game with all the bells and whistles.

Indeed we shall. But when building, I can’t shake the uneasy feeling of regularly asking myself ā€œAm I not wasting my free time building stuff on Boundless when I could be doing a ton of other things?ā€
How long do we still have before we get an announcement from Square Enix that tells us a date for the shut-down of the servers? How long before all our builds are gone, despite how much Gleam-Club, Beacon Fuel or World Fuel we have?
All of my recent ranting kinda comes from this.

Hytale should be interesting guess we shall see just how popular it is at launch and how well they retain players.

Considering not launching on Steam they will at least avoid bad reviews there even though I think not.going on Steam is a mistake other than saving some money.

No reviews on Steam are not bad reviews on Steam I always say.

I also played on Hypixel a ways back with my son and had I not heard of Hytale on these forums I wouldn’t have known too much about it.

I think Cookie Kingdom has already been reclaimed :stuck_out_tongue:

On a serious note… I love the game and will be here until the servers shutdown
