Getting on the same page about the next release (date inside!)

Well a year ago they still gave us a road map image, we haven’t seen one of those in a very long time.

Going back to that with a few changes would be neat. Like give each little image in the roadmap a colour which tells us a rough status of it. Also make it top to bottom to tell us the order in which they plan the updates to come out/being worked on.

No dates, no explanation as to why the Warp Wraith keeps being pushed down just that it has. If people complain about such a thing try to ignore it.

I get it the devs are passionate about their baby so anything negative stings like crazy but don’t they care about us puppy eyes

According to the image Simoyd posted there should be two more. Clexarews mentioned a 3rd, so who is the 4th, hmmm

Wait what?

Given that the warp wraith is already animated for more than a year, either it turned out to be glitchy or they’re holding it for a big monsters update. Kind of like how we always get stuff in groups - all the helixes, all the emoji, that one time they added a bunch of blocks, chisels etc.

Yeah Ross said he only did some of those planet settings thing like a Lush Arid one. He then mentioned he was working on other stuff. Was all in the forums.

The bit about Square Enix was a job listing they had put up on Facebook I think we even discussed which popular SE IP it could be. I remember you participating.

On both actually if I’m not mistaken!

Please explain the issue or issues? How will the game be “better” if you knew what the next two things on the roadmap were? How would the problem with Oort be solved if you knew the next release thing or that the reason Sovereigns aren’t being delivered is because the asset for the new “sovereign portal” is still being created. I’m really curious how this is solved.

Now if the issues are because people want more information and aren’t getting what they want, then sure… more communication solves that.

Ok here’s an example

Half the player base is basically taking a break until sovereigns are released. Some think it’ll be 1 week, some think 2 months.

Guilds are trying to plan new cities and planets

Networks are trying to plan planetary portals for rentals

Also I’m trying to run a contest, and some ppl are inhibited from starting a build because they don’t know the timeline.

Yes we could say these issues are all “user error”, but:

All of these things are inhibited by lack of a public timeline. Even a “guesstimate” would help

In my view grown adults aren’t afraid of “criticism” but grown adults know the concept of value and might not value the response or not want to deal with the drama of it especially if it doesn’t solve “why the delay exists.” When I share my view of “community response” it is related to that not “fear” or anything. It is the time it takes to share and the other related context.

I’d lead that the sharing issue is mostly toward what your second paragraph talks about. Time and some other things.

Ah! A new sovereign portal! (not a Creative one BTW since I would expect one of those more)

I missed all that about there only being a couple of devs working on the next update. If most of their team is taking a break, I might too.

Well, it might have been contextual. My guess is since it’s mostly about coding and executive decisions, it’s James and Luca. No new graphics assets means the graphics team isn’t on it. I don’t actually know what the other devs do.

Still, your comment definitely is an example of the pains of poor communication from devs

I’m positive they are working on other Boundless stuff, but we have no clue as to what it might be…

I know what would help! A road map!

ducks for all the office supplies being thrown at me by james

Let’s just play Boundless.
Time goes faster.
Then suddenly the private worlds are here.

Sorry, those are player issues and not game issue. Those are players making decisions because they have chosen to “wait for a time line to make their decision.” That is not about the actual game development. Players should learn not to schedule their life around the game development when the Developers have chosen to be limited in their communication. That is like trying to get milk out of a rock… not the best use of time.

The devs should focus on building the game and getting the thing that is holding it up DONE so it can be released. They already have enough on their plate and time is limited as well as resources. So why should they take more time out of their lives to just help people know “when they should take vacation or not.”

I hear it sucks to not have information but it starts to feel as an entitlement when players expect the devs to tell them things so players can make decisions in the game.

That wasn’t inside info but made up info btw… The only information I have on the delay is clearly === clearly they have more to work on before they feel the release is in the best possible state for delivery.
