Gold Slingbows Highest damage?

So, looking at the Damage Calculator… A fully forged Gold Slingbow with dmg augment, with 100% Crit chance, lvl10 Hard Hitter (+175% crit damage), and lvl10 Damage seems to do more damage than a Rift Slingbow with lvl10 Damage on it.

Any forgers mess around with these?

The idea being, since it crits every hit… it does insane damage

I think the problem is augments. Better than they used to be, but still not ideal or worth it. Hence why there are not any augment shops.

You know I had never actually realised that gold slingbows had 50/75 crit as base. That is the same as on gold fists correct?

You can achieve 100% crit chance on umbris/diamond/ruby bows with full agility, lvl 8 crit chance boon and a critical pie. But does that 75% damage increase on a gold make that much difference that it out damages an umbris even?

I guess the only problem is… the resists. Elemental mobs will resist 40% of your shots from a physical damage only weapon, it’s basically the only reason I havent given up bows entirely to use gold fists instead.

But… off to the damage calculator I go to have a look, you have inspired me haha

Ya, it got me interested too, so I forged this:

And when using side by side with this:

The Gold one for SURE outperforms… i mean… greatly.
The 11 energy drain vs the 48 is HUGE by itself, slightly better in action speed, the sustained damage is much much better. Even with the resists, it’s just all around better.

the damage shown on this is from my resist char btw, does not have the damage epic. And even without it, most mobs were 2-5 shots on T6 lvl2 Meteor. was able to clear it solo no prob.

i MIGHT go as far to say it feels better than the 100% crit fists. with the action speed, and energy drain when compared

EDIT: The only thing is I DID eat some Persist pie… because that Dura is nasty. but still… this is the best “feeling” slingbow I’ve used

Oh yeah… all that base crit damage on the rift bows arent much good unless you forge extra crit chance on to them. And even then, the difficulty/cost of forging then makes the gold a clear winner.

Again, the only advantage the rift will have is the resistance thing, an extra 30% damage against the right elements. Do you use this damage calculator…?

http://www.pfiffel.com/bl/#1,2,4,9,9,1,5,1,5,0,0,0,9,0

Its a good way to see how the numbers stack up.

Because a ruby even without the crit pie will do higher average damage than the gold bow

Ya, thats the one i use. My go to weapon was a 100% crit fist, with damage and crit damage… so i was messing around with the calculator to see if any of these new Lucent goodies were worth forging… thats when I noticed that the Gold slingbow outperformed when fully forged… when compared to the rift one…

It’s one of those things where, ya… the numbers might look good, but you don’t know until you take it out and use it… and it did great!

Still pretty hilarious that a gold slingbow can do more damage than a lvl10 dmg forged Riftbow…

Wait… im showing Gold bow doing more average dmg than ruby. You put the Dmg Augment on?

Shhh… this info should not be available till after me and @shortyd856 kick @Apt and @Ovis Butts!

Yeah man that’s actually really impressive, and like I say I had never even considered the gold bows!

The Lucent equipment, in my opinion, is completely worthless (besides the grapples). The energy costs are too high on the rift bows and the damage on the blinks far too low. You can achieve very close to the same results with gem bows and none of the drawbacks (energy cost). And when it comes to tools… a sapphire tool with a strength brew actually performs better than rift with a speed brew.

Ok hang on… lemme stop doing this in my phone and jump on the PC and do it proper lol

Let’s be honest, lucents are here just to make us look fancy :face_with_monocle:

The grapples are good? I haven’t found a need to do lucent anything…

IKR!!! you see 540 base damage and move along… i feel there is no reason this should be the case… but, i guess if it wasn’t, there would be no need to ever forge a gold slingbow… so they SHOULD have their “thing”

The grapples are the only lucents that actually give improved stats above their gem counterparts. The rift for the extra range, and my personal favourites the umbris for the extra proj/reel speed while having the same range as emerald

Ya, the grapples with their base stats (no forging) are quite good on their own. They each have their niche

OK yep, I must have left the augment off when I was doing it on my phone.

Gold Bow average damage - 13402
Ruby bow average damage - 13339

Now throw a strength brew on…

Gold Bow average damage - 20456
Ruby bow average damage - 20358

But Ruby has more durability right?

Oh yes waaaaayyyy more durability. The only reason I don’t use a crit pie and go 100% crit on diamond/ruby/etc as I prefer the invigorating pies, so no way I’m going to use a gold with a persisting pie.

But it’s more the fun of experimentation and seeing what a gold bow is capable of that is important here :joy:
