Perhaps they were afk? Or had a developer console open. Or… You know, stuff.

yeah, i thought he might be busy and not see the chat… but as he was running aroundd in the c++ build day of or after i thought maybe theyd keep an eye out for people actually playing in it…

ah oh well. im a nobody anyway. maybe after i pay my dues ill be worthy of the occasional nod.

I bet they just weren’t looking at that screen at the time (I bet many leave the game idling in the background). The devs seem pretty chatty when you do catch them being active

I saw a dev in game 2 days ago.

I said hi. He didn’t respond…
My instant reaction was that he must be afk. So what did I do?
What any master builder does of course. I started building a box around his lifeless body in an effort to trap the poor guy.

Unfortunately my box was merely half complete when he screamed “yo”. “what you doing?”

I explained my plan to which he reasonably understood my stroke of pure brilliance.

He then confessed that he was a dev, though he showed no signs, special powers or miracles upon request.

Later I took him for exploration around my home world and base to show off.

Dev’s are nice.

The end

I was in game and AFK a few days ago, and when I came back I was surrounded by torches. It looked like I was the subject of some strange ritual…

He remembers nothing, everyone. Continue with the rituals!

@T4LCOMX and @Rolco Sorry that we missed you guys. We may not have received the text. The chat is broadcasted in the world but there is a reach limit, meaning that the we need to be within certain distance to get our message.

No need to apologies haha. I was saying that I interacted with the dev I bumped into and he was really cool. Nothing but rave reviews here!

Hmm, yeah, currently its a bit of a guessing game. I think it might be good to have the chat threshold match the distance where character names show up on screen. (Or have some other visual indication that they’re in chat range)

That would make it very deterministic for players: “I see their name, therefore they can hear me”
