i was hyped by the update, have not played a while.
wanted to give my old town on gellis some love and get abandoned plots.
but then this occured, and i instantly lost my fancy.
why do i need require? PS (owned by dumaru) is some plots away.
how would i now transfer an area to another player that want to settle down here, if i need to ask every body around?
how would we trade some plots for a road or public project?
how would now anybody around here be able to take over this abandoned plot?

They changed plot protection… basically if you set plot protection ON it means other players have to have at least (1 plot? I think it was) distance from your build.

They added buffer zones. They need to turn them off to plot.
It’s stopped people being able to connect up to you without your permission. It’s actually one of my favourite additions, I feel safe now that I won’t be consumed by a larger settlement! (Not that there was any imminent threat of this, but peace of mind y’know)
Annoying in places like yours I guess until the proper perms are granted. You just need Demaru to give you the perms

That update kinda ruined cities that alrdy existed… its rather impossible to unplot /plot stuff when theres alrdy people plots touching your owns.
You unplot -> oh i cant plot that back anymore

Yup happened to me on my shop on beckon. Was going to give it to @Ratchel but I unplotted a spot and plot protection is on from the person next to me. So it’s a no go. Then just the other day I saw a beacon go out in umm old name was sunken city can’t remember the name now but I couldn’t plot it due to plot protection being on.
I’ve always been more of a saver than a looter. But the way things are now there’s really only one option now

Yep thats a big pain about the system. though now i am closing alot of shops outside of the dome. already closed shops on a few planets. Now we have a shopping area at the dome. 4c sap and all the orbs anyone could need!

The system is design to automatically favor the beacon owners in a location. They automatically have the first right on the plots once they become wild. They may or may not want a new neighbor. You can ask for access to the plots.
They get this priority because their claim is older and hence should have more say over who is able to claim the plots.
Whilst this does cause some issues - specifically a player wanting to give their plots to someone else - BUT - maybe your current neighbors don’t want this new owner to have the plots?

Well sadly with my plots on beckon I have been there longer. But before plot protection was even a thing or we knew it was going to be a thing, I switched the shop from my main to my alt which dropped my timer down.

The system definitely isn’t perfect - but IMO it has improved the situation dramatically. And I currently consider it a net improvement for player-player interactions throughout the game.

It might be. I wouldn’t know as I never had problems before. Tho there’s still trolls, they’ll never go away.

I agree. But like anything, a system can be abused. While a “ neighbor” in real life most likely is around to be asked. In this game you buy two years of gleam club and check out. Turn off ps4’s ability to receive messages and delete discord. Most of my issues were switching around my own plots. Ya know James, beacon sales and or transfers to others and alts would solve this issue.

I don’t know if this would be possible, but it would be neat if there were a pop up saying “warning! This plot is protected, you will not be able to to reclaim it”

well the problem here is that i am the neighbor (i am the owner of the white road net on the plot view on the image). but i cant reclaim that piece of land that i once give to somebody and that is now free because that somebody left or unclaimed. this piece of land will now be abandoned forever? until everyone around accept that someone claims it?
so in fact all older towns and communities are now screwed.
is this an opt in or an opt out? i dont think that dumaru dont want someone to claim around PS hub so i think its an opt out and he just forgot to set it off.
if its an opt out, instead of an opt in thing than this makes it even worse, just my 2 cents.
