I wanted to maybe upgrade to pioneer and give the other instant access key to a friend, if I do that, am I still elligible to merge into a Chieftain account?
Sigh it’s probably too late~ maybe they’ll extend the upgrade time.
The upgrade is independed to the key. As I understood in the upgrade answer, you just tell them a name, and they upgrade the perk.
You could even upgrade a non EA key, as long you have upgrades to give away. A little later they wand to make upgrades makeable ingame.
You can still upgrade, yes, but you’ll have to bring the person along, that you gave the key. So if for example you want to upgrade to Master, you and your friend can only merge with 2 other people and thus the two of you would have to add $250 total in order to have payed for half the Master package.
