Out of curiosity, what was the character’s name? 
Like, was it a famous NPC name like Jaina, or a clear reference to an IRL person?
Because for that, yeah, you can still be name changed.
Though, might also be because I play on French severs, and our game-masters don’t apply the rules as often as US game-masters would…
