Lustrous Timber normal map/specularity weirdness


This has always baffled me, is this how lustrous timber is intended to look like?

The specularity seems wrong, these parts reflect light at a different angle than the rest and it looks out of place. Or I’m not sure if that’s the normal map, or something completely different.


I think its supposed to be the ends of each of those wood planks.


Yeah don’t fret about it too much it’s intentional block design. And is as @ctrl-64 explained.
