Mine-able Oort

Before the testing page becomes a battlefield. I offer a new topic to discuss the viability of the not yet confirmed mine-able Oortstone. There is in the knowledge menu Oort seam it is listed as being found on all tier worlds. What are your thoughts/Concerns if this were implemented?

That has been there for awhile. It was from before meteorites were introduced

I am all for mineable oort but I am also loving meteor hunting.

Ah! Good to know! We who have not tested in a while were teased by a screenshot!

Kinda like how this is from the original trailer on steam… loooong before we ever got it on live servers. Look at character models in this pic. Old skool haha!

Although I think it would reduce the price of bought Oort there are still plenty of things that are needed from hunts. Mostly critter parts for forging and foods as well as vital essence for crafting of bonding agents, which will see a rise in popularity, unless i miss my guess.

I wish it was minable. It won’t stop hunts if they throw something new to the mix when comes to metorites

I’m all for mining oort being another option… allowing port supply to be 100% reliant upon hunting alone is how we have the oort supply crunch we have today

I feel it’s more because we have twenty thousand networks now. When there was just a couple, everything was fine.

Paraphrased from the other thread…

I think mining port should be a job-hunting (blech) option for low level players.

I define low lvl as 1-10, maybe a little higher. Lvl 10 is a good point to make your own portal. That"s 2-4 hours of play and your nowhere close to hazard planets.

My reference is always “new player, ignore the economy, playing solo.”

If I’m a new player on a T1 world with no access to other players or thier portals…how do I set up a portal to a T2?

That being said, I’d be cool with oort being mine-able on T2 or T3 and higher.

Until we get hazard protecting wearables, most things should be available on non-hazard worlds. Hazard protection is too much of a point sink

What would prevent hoarders with AoE tools to go and take it all?

Oort should be only on exos or high tier perms in low quantities.

New players need to learn many other things before portals, they can use warps at the start. Most of them dont even know how to read the compas, I dont think they need portals when they dont even know how a beacon works.

Maybe warping costs a bit. But if youre not using the economy its not too much to warp up to new tier worlds.

They don’t even need to warp to planets, All they need is to find the portal network on their planet and warp there.

If/when I get my ps4 back I plan to run a truly solo stream. My laptop cant handle it…

I’m not picking on you, but this mindset is why new players don’t stay. Too much is locked behind 50 hours of gameplay.

??? So your saying it should be more like minecraft creative mode?
