The trick is that we listen to as much of the feedback as we can, but not swerve or make isolated snap changes based on reactions some decisions we make (recent example: crafting professions). When we look at an idea or feature, we look at in context of the whole game, and every other feature. The surveys are really important (probably moreso than the forum) because they give a much broader and quantifiable picture from our current backers, whereas the forum tends to be skewed towards those who post the most.
Ultimately, you guys were attracted to the game from our initial pitch, we have our vision and hopefully good reasons for the decisions we make
You take a little of this
and a bitta that
ground up poos and a LOT of fat
Hide and hair and bone and bark and twig
Veins and arteries, gristle and GRIT
then you grind it all fine so that it’ll all FIT
rammed up in the exit ramp of a pig.
I really agree that it’s necessary to be able to hold your own in order to progress, but I don’t have a lot of friends, and I have huge trust issues so I would never group with people, and since Titans are massive hulking achievement hunter totems that require a lot more than one person, I personally would never progress, no matter how skilled I become at the fighting system.
It enforces people to play together, i understand what you mean cause some people are like that, but if you try it just once you would be surprised how nice it feels to fight something hard with other people, cause in my opinion the point of an mmo is playing together with people, ofc you might solo fighting but it should just take a lot more time to progress when soloing. i think no matter how much a person feel like a solo player, if they are forced to work together with others just once in a while they will do it, if you still think its so bad after that then you can just leave them and never see them again
I guess I’m just an unusual type, I don’t trust anyone for any reason and cannot ask for favors because I refuse to owe people. Which I guess makes me a Mercenary, but I doubt that there’s going to be any use for those in the world of Oort; although it’s be cool if that was still a reliable way to play.
I could see mercs being good in the market selling things that crafters or builders need, but for actual odd jobs like requests unless it’s on a bigger scale that can produce good items/income for them or being a hybrid is super hard these will probably be delt by hybrid players doing that kind of work.
However if there’s a system that encourages player to come together but not forcing them. mercs making friends won’t be bad cause I feel the same way as @EliteCynder but this way it would be less feeling like you owe anyone, but more as just hanging out with a friend
I always kinda hoped we had rare materials in really harsh caves where you need protection but you need a dedicated miner to get it out, so a miner/crafter would hire a few mercenary to help them, also if you had like Archeage where you could transport goods over long distances, it would be epic if that was a thing, i really do hope mercenary bands and guilds will be a thing
I was simply saying that it has to be appealing to both parties the one that is being hired and the one that’s doing the hiring. The ones doing the hiring will want to get good prices that make it cheaper then just buying it in stores or easier then being a hybrid and asking friends to join you. For the mercs they aren’t going to want to do something that isn’t interesting at all but they also will want to get good pay for there work both sides kind of push the other to wanting to solo. So some sort of aid to encourage this would be good XD
What if a titan has a certain rage level? And things like number of opponents (players) and health influence this level.
Once a titan gets to a certain rage level he could use other tactics, harder punches, faster swipes etc.
The health could still grow with the initial rage level but that might not be necessary anymore. And the titan wouldn’t feel like a sponge but rather difficult in all cases.
Thats just titan scaling, i dont think they should give a damn about the amount of players, there need to be a limit but personally i dont think scaling is a good idea, because the argument that comes is that ‘‘then the titan will always feel dfficult’’ but you just encourage zerg rushing if that is the case, i would like to see it balanced for a certain amount of players and then in some way make sure only so many players can be fighting it at once.
how would it encourage zerg rushing if the titan scales and feels always difficult?
how is making a titan difficult for a certain amount of people gonna help against the argument that the titan will always feel difficult?
why is this argument even valid?^^ Didn’t we all agree that titans should be difficult to beat?
I’m not exactly for scaling but I’m even lessbof a fan of instancing. In GW2 it wasn’t really fun how you couldn’t even see your friends because of the many people. But that was only a problem with the smaller bosses. So I see no problem with the titan scaling.
