Huzzah and all that, but I have been watching the numbers since the free weekend started. It’s currently about 16:00Z Saturday (later afternoon in EU, just before lunch USE). The EU T1/T2 Worlds are redlining at 80% full just like they were Friday when 2 new planets appeared. The USE T1/T2 Worlds vary between 20% and 40% full, even during the Friday evening timeslot last night. My totem augments remain unspent.

It looks to me like this game appeals more to a European sensibility or something. Possibly the American base already has enough Worlds to dilute the Free Weekenders and the EU is just making up for a previous player deficit. Actual subscriber location data would be interesting.

Any thoughs or insights?

I think you’re point on with it being a EU flavor game. The stats have seemed to back that since day 1.

I have to say that I never saw any organic marketing for this game. I came across Boundless by searching - not from steam or an ad. I am not a casual gamer and I search for new games, alphas, betas, I get notifications, invites, etc. I was going to get in on one of the EA packages, but I couldn’t find enough info and decided to wait (I regret that now lol).

I’m sure BL comes up as a suggestion in Steam for people now.

Different parts of the world do seem to have their gaming preferences. I think if BL had a LOT more content, it would appeal more to a wider audience. People that can only play for an hour here and there should be able to do some fun things besides build; like maybe loot dungeons, kill lots of creatures for lots of cool drops, farm, fish, build a car and drive around, etc. I don’t think there’s enough to do from using a totem to whack foliage --> trying to forge items. There’s not much in between. I don’t think most players & casual gamers spend their time searching for beta games - yes, BL plays like a beta imo. They want a fully fleshed-out game with a lot to do.

I would wait and celebrate until we see what the new normal peak time numbers are going to be.

Anyone will try a game out if it’s presented to them if it looks fun enough and is free. I wouldn’t use this free weekend event as any sort of metric until after it’s done and enough time has past to determine whether or not those people are going to shell out the money and buy the game.

At the end of the day, what matters is whether or not they buy the game and consistently play afterwards.
