Old textures

The need for retextures came because MC just doesn’t look that good on it’s own and because there wasn’t just one person that did new textures suddenly there were hundreds of texture packs^^

Yeah which is my point, the textures looks freaking amazing, and we are arguing about the possiblity to put the old ones in ‘‘because people would like the option to use the old dirt’’? that is insanely minecraft. At first i liked the argument that it was to run better on low spec pc, however it was written off since the new ones should run better which is when it turned into a sort of ‘‘i want the option’’

I don’t think you’ll find one, doing so would be a huge performance drain, those solid non-transparent parts of the leaf block keep performance sane

the original leaves only had max 6 per block, current have more like 60 quads per block

the solid centre makes that doable.

The main reason for a solid centre, beyond performance is that it hides the fact that a huge pile of leaf blocks… is actually completely hollow inside and can be seen through if not solid on the edges.

you could replace the textures used in game with the old ones, but you’d need to to fill in a specular/emissive/normal map for them with some default, so you’d get the old textures but everything would be totally flat/un-shiny/un-glowy etc.

Thats what i got from this, that and the fact that they wouldnt be the same anyways. why are you so obsessed with getting them? you dont even own the game.

i know but i think the new and old look awesome but the old had it charm as the new one does. i seen videos of oort and im only used to see old textures. i know im being kinda wierd now because of this

The old textures were good, dont get me wrong, i thought they were pretty, however the new ones are absolutely stunning, for me they just look better in every single way. most of the things are nostalgie which is why i think we should just accept that the old ones are gone and get used to the new ones, if not then people will keep discussing about it forever cause they HAVE the option to switch between them. which again isn’t even a possible option assuming they spent a ton of work on them

i would rather have 10 or 20 more wearables than have the option to switch to old textures, that might be what is on the table, time used on something is time which cant be used on something else.

He mentioned how you could add in your own textures, also modded servers will custom textures will most likely be a thing, i personally hope that dont allow modding on official servers for textures since i could easily see that being abuse (all valuable materials in bright orange anyone)
