Here is some news that I think a lot people will be excited about.
New Hytale promo video just dropped. Looks really good!
Hoping Hytale does well. I havenāt had anyone explain to me the difference in it and modded Minecraft yet, their Discord apparently just attacks you for asking hah.
The story I got is that they were developing it on their own game engine, and then RiotGames bought it and was using their own engine, which caused development to slow as changes were made for RG engine. Then RG shut it down in June.
And then recently Hypixel bought the game back from RG without issue. They tossed the RG changes and went back to their old engine, which was almost ready to launch when RG took over.
So all the earlier gameplay videos from before RG is what the game will look like now.
So something like this:
Yea, I saw the gameplay video and I know Simon got it back from Riot and thatās the point it just looks like modded Minecraft. The game client is C# and the servers run on Java.
The only thing that really made it feel different were the animations. I asked over and over and people were saying there were more mobs, but one modded MC modpack I played had about 440 mods that added 250+ mods, magic, tons of weapons, shields, machines and tons of other things and I guess Iām just looking to see whatās really there to make me want to play it over modded Minecraft (which I donāt play).
I suppose the big plus is no Microsoft.
There is supposed to be over 400 npcās to interact with through gameplay that offer quests, run shops and businesses.
Yea mods do that also.
Iāll just say its not a Microsoft game and leave it at that and see how it is when it comes out.
Iāve seen minecraft modded to the extremeā¦but in the end, itās still the same game with a new coat of paint. I played it for about 3-4 months and then got bored with it.
Iāve played about a dozen other cubic building games and Boundless is the game I keep coming back to because it scratches that itch that none of the other can.
Even played Cubic Odyssey for about 5 months and then lost interest. But that is mainly due to their issues with multiplayer. Iām sure once they get it fixed, itāll be great. But for me there was some game breaking issues that made it not fun.
Yea same here @tarranth played many voxel games. Modded Minecraft with mod packs like All the Mods 10 pretty much can do it all.
Hytale looks promising and the modding side of it for me seems to be the biggest draw. The graphics arent something I really like, but maybe shaders and texturepacks will be able to change it.
Definitely going to jump into Hytale EA! Depending how it goes down the line and just how much I like it, Iāll look at various hosting companies and I may spring for a dedicated server⦠if I do that Iāll follow up here, of course!
Have a vent about a recent game, such a sad letdown: Sacred 2 Remaster. I was so excited when this was announced - huge fan of Sacred 2, which while buggy and janky, has a massive map, complex builds (Diablo-style ARPG) and hilarious writing. Iāve always thought with the bugs squashed and polished up, it would be on level with anything out there now of the type.
What we got was⦠not that. Calling it a remaster or definitive edition would be laughable if it werenāt so sad for me. The only improvements were with some but not all of the graphics. Most everything changed was a downgrade, some very critical features removed (like Free World, which lets you farm bosses), and is the most broken release Iāve ever played. If you see reviews on this game bashing it, it isnāt review bombing, it is legit, it really is THAT bad. Theyāre working on getting some of the severe crashing issues fixed, but Iām not sure how much beyond that theyāll go before they wash their hands of it.
Someone doing a video who was a serious player noted that the only ones who got review keys appeared to be those who never played - and it sadly makes sense, as anybody who knew the game (not just using basic weapon attacks, people who knew the systems) would see pretty quickly that it should either have been delayed or put into EA. Still playing but with a bitter taste in my mouth. I had wondered why I was promoting the game way more than THQ Nordic on social media⦠now I can guess why. They had to have known the state SparklingBit was releasing it in, even if you give them the benefit of the doubt on it not just being a quick cash grab (word is, it had just a few people on it and no artist). First negative review I left on Steam.
Rant over, hope all are doing well! ![]()
Thanks for the Cubic Odyssey mention! I took a look at the Steam page and decided I had to give it a try. NMS voxel style was the vibe I sort of got. ![]()
Iāve played the demo and the full game. I can answer questions and give advice if you choose to mod the game.
I can vouch for Cubic Odyssey. I think once they get the dedicated servers nailed down to be better the game would be a lot of fun. They may have fixed it already.
so this popped up yesterday
Looks interestingā¦if lacking in details what the game will actually involve. I added it to my wishlist.
hope they wonāt mess this up somehow
Been playing Where Winds Meet. Pretty fun if you like MMORPGs. You can play it solo or as an MMO by just toggling it in game. Plus, its free. No P2W.
In my library as well have not tried it yet.
Already put 300 Hours in on this game, itās a Fun & Beautiful game sure itās Time gated there is still a ton to do in the game ![]()
