Please Opensource the Game

Hi,

I hear what you’re saying about flagging. I’ll see what can be improved.

We want passionate players who express their opinions and provoke discussions. That’s so beneficial. I appreciate that you started this thread and initiated this discussion, thank you! I think it’s a shame to see passionate players leave, even when it’s understandable. Possibly the only exception is when a player keeps diminishing other players’ enjoyment of the game. But sometimes that can be tricky to judge.

cause they told someone to find a way to make servers cheaper
and he passed the forum

I think what we would appreciate is the steps necessary to make Boundless at least break even, so that we can take the necessary steps to prepare for that. I honestly don’t want to see Monumental lose money on Boundless. Despite the years of silence on the issue, I’m still a supporter in seeing the company revive the game.

What I think would be the practical solution (which would ■■■■ off several players…who can grow up and get over it) is to do a transition. Leave the sovereigns alone and have all beacons on the permanent worlds reclaim, and then create a new universe of permanent worlds, scaled down to 18 minimum. Combine US EAST and WEST into one region, and then have 6 planets for each region, tier 1 through 6.
The money you save could be temporarily spent on advertising for the game to bring in new players.

Just going to say it again. MONTE said no wipes.

I don’t feel any of my “negative” posts have been in any way to “bash” Monumental other than to say that not communicating is not the answer. Jon-Eric has said more in the past month than we’ve gotten in two years, and I really appreciate that even if the news is not what I’d prefer to hear. An answer is always better than silence. The things I’ve said have all been the result of doing the limited amount of research I could in order to answer the questions. Most avenues lead to dead ends or out of date info.

My complaining isn’t to “bash”, its a scream into the silent void in hopes of an answer. We got one. IMO the next thing is what “free” or hopefully relatively cheep things could be done to get new interest. The two “best” things IMO, would be getting a bunch of Minecraft streamers to play followed by a “free weekend”, but I don’t know what kind of real costs these add to Monumental.

I like your monthly, or yearly computation, but have you considered that they have lease an operating cost long term, that is the reason they can upkeep the game without any new stream of players?

but the voxel standard has me hooked to Boundless.
