Q about power coils

I haven’t got to the point where I’m using power coils, but I’m close, so I have a couple of questions.

1. If I place 3 blocks of my machine in a basement, with just the top block on the 1st floor, can the power coils be placed around the blocks in the basement, out of view?

2. What’s the minimum # of power coils each machine needs?

I’m a solo player, so I don’t crafts tons of mats at the same time.

1. Yes
2. I think max power is 7200. When you look at the recipes you want to make, take note of how much power you’ll need, and work towards getting that much power first. Then, work on getting max power.

Advanced coils are 300 power per coil. For example, if you need 1500 power, you’ll need 5 advanced coils.

Haha this is exactly what I do!

what I do and recommend is burying the machines in the floor and have storage above so you don’t have to go anywhere to grab some more ingredients. another advantage of having machines in the floor is that you can’t accidentally get hurt from walking into the coil beams (or stray critters walking into it) --as long as the floor underneath is low enough or enclosed… also if you chisel the floor around the machine with a bevel chisel then you can access all of the coils from above the floor!

and down below I chiselled the top layer of the gem blocks so that you can walk under the spark cords

A suggestion to make the power coil grind suck less:
Find someone willing to craft the first batch of coils for you. You need 1000 or 1500 power to craft advanced power coils.

That means 10-15 regular coils that will eventually be a waste. This really irritated me when I was just getting started.
