Update:

Genuinely curious. I’ve always wanted to build a settlement on a high tier world mostly because, to my knowledge, noone has built a proper multi person settlement on an elemental world (the closest example I can think of is PS Serpinsarindi have a few people built around it)

My idea is, I claim a large area on a world, make a road system with a central hub that connects to other major portal networks, give people who are interested build permissions within their own plots, and then transfer the plots over to the person once they have finished (or nearly finished) their build.

I would like it to be a themed settlement that utilities the local terrain, as well as a general color scheme for people to “try” to stick to; Most likely fantasy-medevil themed, and maybe purpley to match the planet’s atmosphere, although the color theme is more debatable and optional.

There would be several plot sizes ranging form like 2x2 to like 7x7 all connected roughly via roads, with a castle wall (with a moat) around the build to help keep spitters and hoppers out.

Who would be interested?

I always wanted my main city project to be on a high level planet. A last bastion of civilization kind of thing.
But the atmosphere protection settlement buff never got implemented… so yeah.

I have bases on several high tier worlds - the largest (area wise) on Houchus, but Galan, Flan and Norkyna as well and I always thought of turning them into bigger ones if someone was interested in joining.

So maybe you would think of plotting next to one of them and we could expand from there?

Definitely lava moats.

my galan and houchus ones stick to color scheme and I always utilize terrain and tend to keep most interesting natural features be it mountain shape, prefabs or cool trees - however I don’t tick the fantasy-medieval theme box I have to admit, in any of them (although it’s one of my favorite styles, alongside dwarven and elven of Tolkien origin)

can i have 10x10?
im just removing completely my dzassak base and looking for fresh start

about theme - im just going to build half-ruined castle with bone dragon sitting on them guarding portal to dragon realm  (approx hight is around 10 plots to portal tower, castle shoul be around 5-7 plot max)
color scheme - shadow red, white, grey, black, lava, water, resin and petro for deco purpose

but since i want to make it as my home base with my color storage and all my belongings ill rather prefer to plot it myself

[edit
merging castle with natural mountain is an option too :)]

As it stands i’m just gathering ideas on who would be interested and what it should be themed around. It would likely take me a week just to set up the area, the roads, and the central hub building before it would be ready for others to build there.

I plan to give everyone the plots to their build once they’ve demonstrated there actually going to use them. Way too often have I given people plots near PS hubs only for them to go completely unused, and I don’t plan on taking such risks again with anyone.

Personally I would prefer building on Malurialakrib, but im aware half the game’s population lags on that world, so I figure Noyk is a good alternative

T3-T4 hopper <3 :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d Like to build in a T6 world. We can have an slide too!!

I’ve added a poll to try and decide which planet it should be on. I’ve mentioned Norkyna as a candidate, but I want to see if any other planets happen to be more popular.

I will PM anyone whos shown interest in this fourm thread in the coming days asking them what size plot they would like, and what they plan to build, as well as any preferences for land or anything like that.

Then I will plot the required areas so that each person has their own seperate plot, so everyone can (hopefully) start building!

Building on T6 sounds nice, but portal pathing to these planets is not any fun because of all planets that have to go thru and wait connection to stabilize :frowning:

There are some nice looks on a lot of the T6. My reasons for not building there are;

  • Getting attacked constantly.
  • Needing Atmospheric skills on all my skill pages.
  • Blocks are harder to smash, which is annoying for both clearing areas out and for building. I spend a lot of time rebuilding things, which would be a nightmare.
  • All visitors would require Atmospheric skills.

My hope is with the walls and moat that all non-flying creatures will be kept out. If I plot a large enough area even cuttletrunks should spawn far enough away to rarely be an issue (currently have 5k unspent plots I can use)

I would also be more then happy to give you whatever tools you needed to build there if it helps.

I’ve never understood why when people want to build a settlement/city. The first thing is. We need a hub and then a road system that divides the land into small sections that people are aloud to build in. It just never has seemed like a good way to build. Or an inviting way to build with others. Unless you’re building a modern city with skyscrapers I don’t think this is a good way to build a mid evil castle themed settlement. I’m not saying it’s wrong. Just there’s got to be better ways. Perhaps letting people build up to each other eliminating all the roads between. Having dirt paths that are not always straight plot wide roads. But more natural zig zagging paths that take you through natural looking forest. Over small streams. Spaced out buildings. With more natural surroundings building with the natural hills and mountains and not levelling everything flat. These are just a few suggestions. And obviously you can do what you like. And maybe building that way has its benefits. Either way I wish you luck. And will definitely check it out.

I wasn’t planning on having symmetrical land sections divided by roads. I was thinking of utilizing more rough-looking cobble stone looking paths to connect slightly scattered and asymmetrical builds, with a great wall encompassing the entire town.

The key focus is utilizing the environment to make it look natural as opposed to artificial; there would still be pre-determined “zones” for people to build in, but they would all be on different levels to eachover, and not next to eachover, but seperated.

The central “hub” was actually going to be some kind of clock or bell tower with portals in there connecting to hubs; without a central building it would be very difficult to access IMO.

Edit: With that said, allowing people to build right next to eachover can have its own charm; even small bridges over the road connecting two buildings like an arch, or other similar design features to make it unique, sound like an excellent idea.

Then you have drama about some one building larger and faster and not letting others build
