Ryegames video

Yet here the game is still going with a community of actual players, a working game and someone actively managing it. Seems like someone plays the game still, but I do agree other than hunting, crating, visiting new planets, doing the in-game events and building which are what many sandboxes are, there isn’t much to do. Then again in a sandbox, one is only limited to their imagination, who’s to blame for the lack of that?

It is a voxel game - imagine just getting few “new” blocks would do! The devs only need to craft new textures and give some block IDs and some recipes. Heck, use some of the useless blocks in the mix as well. It would not even need to mess with world gen.

Kind regards,

yes, thats true, in Boundless, regardless of actual content you are limited to your own creativity

Create your own City, your own Mall

you arent limited to building for your own sake,
want to do something to others? no prob
-organize hunts
build community farm
-make awesome mazes with reward
-treasure hunts with rewards
-build contest

your game depend of your own creativity and imagination

are you bored? you are the only to blame

I’ve been trying to work this out, are you saying that if you can’t destroy other people’s builds then you can’t enjoy a game? That only games where you can actively hurt other peoples progress will succeed?

He’s talking about what the game was like before reclaim, when it was the “law of the west”, that when beacons expired, they were free to be destroyed or looted. There are people (like myself) that enjoyed doing it.
When reclaim was being coded and then implemented, the Devs promised that they would create something like dungeons with loot to replace it. Nothing happened.

I think a good number of people enjoyed it from the sounds of it and in some ways, I like it better than stuff sitting in someone’s reclaim until the end of eternity.

However, I do like the option of being able to come back to the game at any time in the future knowing my items would be there if and when I came back.

Looting was fun. But like anything some people took it too far and figured out ways to use the system to their advantage.

They created many accounts and alts. And joined every guild they could. Then they made a spot with all there alts with aligned beacons to each guild with guild books so they could see exactly when aligned beacons in each guild would die so they could be the first to loot them.
Definitely evil genius. But also slimeballish.

I made my first 100k coins by looting a huge shop with my “Partner in crime”. A friend of the shop owner came upon us looting and told us to stop. That the shop owner was in the hospital and wasn’t able to log in and keep his beacon fueled. We look at each, laughed, and continued looting. The guy managed to plot what we hadn’t got to and save at least half the build. :person_shrugging:

there were also people who saved abandoned beacons just so they could still be available in the game back then. It’s gone now, but for a long time there was still one of the old Hubbit network portal hubs on Imdaari, because it had been saved by someone. I used to jump through portals to visit and remember gathering lots and lots of opals to donate for that project lol

Looting burned builds also created a lot of animosity as well. Things happen in real life where people were unable to fuel their beacons for a day or two only to come back and find their stuff gone. Stuff they worked hard to get. Like Georgio mentioned people took it to far causing issues. Reclaim solved the issue. I know people that have left the game for awhile and then were able to return later and at least had their materials to build again.

I know at least two people who stopped playing, because people looted everything they had the moment it was off of the beacon. The reason it wasn’t refueled was because they had real life surprises that came up and kept them from going back in. They weren’t long-time players or anything at that time, but it’s not a good thing to bleed newer players either - just like I said in the video itself.

One literally had a house fire, so they definitely had bigger things to worry about than a video game.

Yeah that would be totally infuriating. I understand why people quit when they lose everything. The reclaim system definitely helped with that. But unfortunately it happened to so many people before reclaim was added. Sadly those people probably will never return even if you offered to give them all kinds of stuff to make them whole.

honestly i wish the players i knew years ago would come back but in this years they matured, they probably got own families niow, different priorities or just playing other games
we need new players, new players that never experienced Minecraft, Lego or Trove, we need fresh players who fall in love with Boundless from 1st glance
but where we can show our beloved game? if they dont know the Boundless they wont be looking for Boundless streams at YT…this game need advertisement, active adverts…there are several themed fests at Steam, never seen Boundless at any fest its tags allow it to participate…

I was reading through the comments today (so many to read!).
But then I came across 2 comments (one from a Boundless player) that made me want to scream and beat my head against the wall.
I thought we were trying to stay away from Politics, Religion, and Drama?

I saw that too. They made the same comment a couple times. Not the type of person we want in boundless. :-1::-1:

Thanks man I appreciate the offer. I will come back and play soon but I think I have a bit left from the last few times I came back for a bit. Some people gave me stuff then too, lol. Best game community.
