Set jump to two blocks high

IMO, At this stage in the game’s development, player mobility is a key to creating growth overall. The farther and higher/deeper players can go within specific reasonable limitations should be a priority to creating content that creates mindshare, etc. etc…
Can you set the jump height to two blocks to counteract the need to dig terrain or take the “long way around” each individual terrain feature? Would be priceless.

Why not take a “hook shot” or “grapling hook” ?

You can also place a block of dirt / sand and find your way up on obstacles.

Because that would potentially limit early and mid-game mobility. As well as the trade-off of speed to attain mobility by switching to the hookshot or grappling hook hotkey while exploring basic surfaces.

What do you mean with “early/mid-game mobility” ?

At the moment there are two speeds “walk” and “run”. You can jump an exactly defined high (1 block equals 1 meter) and there are tools for higher jumps or for reaching higher positions. You can also use slopes and running speed for “insane high jumps” (around 3-4 meters). You can use the hooks really fluently that’s why some people build sky bridges (including me) for “fast-travel”. Don’t see any reason for a “higher jumps” at the moment.

i also think this would make the jump less controlled.

I think to be able to jump higher should be bound to gearor other progress later. A normal guy who jumps over a meter “out of the stand” is an athletic dude, so it’s OK that the “normal” player character can jump just that hight (or may be 1,2 to 1,5 blocks to make it smoother). And for the momentary state of the game: it’s quite early early access, so there is much time to find a good solution. To be just able to make higher jumps atm whould not help the development at all

I completely disagree. I like the jumping the way it is. I would be open to having higher jumping in character progression or as a perk.

Frankly, I feel the jump is too high. Currently you can jump 1.5m high. How is that a problem? Well, it’s a bit tricky to jump into a 2 high gap without using a grapple. Test it yourself- make a wall with a 2 high gap 1 block above the floor- it’s almost impossible to make it in!

if they reduce it to 1m it would be tricky to place a block under you too. At the moment i can jump up and set a stone directly under me without any problem which is nice.

I dont like that idea actully imagine if you wanna get in somewhere that will be super difficult

It works in Minecraft just fine and the jump height there I believe is just a bit over 1m. Maybe 1.1 or 1.2m.

As jumping works right now, either the characters collision box needs to be slightly reduced in height, or the jump height needs to be scaled back a tad. I would be happy with either solution so long as the end result reduces the frustration of jumping into tight spaces.

I like jumping how it is, though I would like to see us be able to pull ourselves up a two block high wall if we jump, I keep getting stuck in pits that I can’t grapple out of.
If we could pull ourselves up while grappling or jumping that would be pretty sweet I think.

That is actually an interesting workaround, it would allow people to scale higher stuff without making the jum height rediculess.

Instead of changing the jump height, why not implement the ability to climb over obstacles two blocks high?

That was basically just what @WinterHyena proposed?

Blind and sleep deprived suggestion. So I guess I’ll reiterate my suggestion as support!

Also voicing support for this suggestion. Would make climbing cliff faces so much easier than just hanging while making yourself a little stairway…
