Some problems getting into game

I can do that, but the problem is this. I set it, first time I go in I will get the freeze. Then when I set it to another one, the 2nd time it won’t freeze anymore, and I will successfully get in. So, in order to get the neccessary logs, it may take me a while. After getting in the 2nd time I do not know when it will freeze again, before I shut down for the night to go back in again the next day. Only sure thing I know is that each day I try to play the game I have to fire it up twice, first time it will freeze, 2nd time to get in. Occassionally, I get in on first try, but it rarely happens.

To answer your first question, no I do not remember what chunk size did I use.

The main thing we need is a copy of the logs from one of the times it freezes, hopefully that might help us work out where it’s freezing.

My game normally does the freeze thing. I use the 1Gb cache, and the bit rate is on whatever setting that’s 8 or something.

When I log in, I click to continue and it takes anywhere from 5 seconds to 30 seconds. Then it loads into sanctum for about 30 frames, then it freezes. Roughly 10 seconds.

This is a regular occurrence, every time

just went through sanctum freeze and here’s my log:

EDIT: my Chunk Cache Size is 2GB atm

went down to 1GB of CCS - freeze still happened although it was way shorter (however the first time game was responding all the time - just the video was freezed; now the game window went into “not responding” state but came back faster);

here’s the log from the lower CCS freeze:

EDIT: I meant to try 500 MB CCS but I forgot to change it and restarted the game with the same size (1GB) and it went through without freeze.

Tested 500MB CCS.No problem. No freeze and way quicker loading time.

a lot of block loading errors there though (both in 1GB and 500MB logs while 2GB size log doesnt have it from what I could see)

Ok. Here is the first log. This time 2 GB chunk size. I titled it as 1GB becoz I thought it was, sorry.

Also, on the menu, I always cannot see the last option clearly. Its always 50% obscured by the bottom bar, enough that I can make intelligent guesses as to what it is saying. I play on a 32 inch TV set to 1360x768 resolution.

Thanks for the logs, we’ll add them to our bug database and will take a look at them.

@knightsb regarding the last option, are you playing on the live or testing version? We have a fix for it, but it’s not yet available on the live version.

I am playing on the live version

I think I can see which part of the chunk caching may be causing this, I’ve made a change so when that gets pushed out to testing we’ll update the thread and you can test it again to see if it’s helped.

The change should now be on the testing version. Can everyone who replied in this topic check if it makes an improvement?

I’ll have to find out how to get into the test version first.

To be true it all went back to normal yesterday even before the 163. I was back using 2Mb cache and freezes stopped anyway.

Now I will have to see if the fix didn’t break it. :joy:

Right click on Boundless within Steam and then select Properties. Select the Betas tab and select the testing option from the drop-down menu here.

I was able to get into solum multiple times instantly, but thats about all I could test at this point. I was not able to get to a really laggy planet to test it, like Therka.
