If I look at the Guild Control of any random guild and look at the members list I can see how much coin each member has donated or been reimbursed. This seems like information that should be private to guild members only (maybe even only guild members of a certain rank).

Right now that is the intended behaviour, but based on player feedback we may change the visibility.

I like it. If it’s not transparent it can get ugly like dark money and political pacts. Given that we’re now going to have guilds and there will be a new levels of competition, knowing where money is going and whom it is coming from is an important function I believe. Keeping people honest with each other is never a bad thing.

I think this should perhaps be internal to the guild itself… probably from the money launderers (jk) upwards.
Unless you use a buy basket piggy bank in a public place, your credit rating as a single player is pretty much private. I’d hate to see a string of hateposts disapproval threads about who has how much money, especially since it doesnt take into account whether that coin has possibly left the guild through baskets / gifting / however.
I dont mind showing off my 23,618c ; but i have a suspicion that people will envy and blame guilds and/or people giving and receiving if this is all public.

I wouldnt mind seeing it myself because im not one to be concerned about another person’s money and what they do with it, but i could see it being a problem with people that do. Just look at all the people complaining about how much portal hubs make or dont make from footfall. Keeping it within the guild is probably the best bet.

Agreed. Doesn’t seem like a good idea to show people each others’ wallets when many are concerned about economy and such.

I guess you could argue that it either proves the point that a few players or guilds have all the money or shut them down if it is not actually the case. But up to the developers. Personally I do not have a problem with the coin being displayed.
Edit. Before joining a guild it might be nice to know what their finances are. Can they afford the buffs? Are a few players using all the coin?

Yeah @Simoyd is cheap, only donated 123 coins.
On the other side i think should be completely seen by the guild members only. no point to make this public.

Some data could be public possibly to see whether or not you and the prospective guild are a good fit… but most should be private otherwise people will rally with their pitchforks and torches at the rich guild’s doorstep and demand that however they got rich be balanced. But no amount of patching will get rid of honest blood, sweat and tears.
This is something I am bit Neutal about, Part of me likes the idea of this kind of stuff being transparent, as it might yield some Information about officer corruption and misuse of funding to the public. However for this I am more in support of who is Withdrawing money to be exposed. not who is putting the money in.
However at the same time. I can also understand why exposing this to the public can be a bad thing as it might open up some doors for people to misinterpret the results and try to claim something that may or may not be 100% correct about the situation as they only have an outside view.
There is also no other game, that I played that exposes this Information to the public. There are downsides and upsides to both ways of doing this.
Realistically It would most likely be better to not expose this Information to the public even thou personally part of me would like to see it exposed to the public, maybe partly due to the fact I like reading audit logs and the like.
This part however I 100% disagree with, if you are in the guild, every guild Member should be allowed to scrutinize the audit logs for guild banks so that it becomes clear when corruption is going on, or other questionable transactions.
Surely people realize how suspicious it is that anyone would want such finances kept secret?
The developers need to decide if they want this game to be a family friendly get-a-long, or thieving and competitive like EVE.
I am pretty sure the devs do not want this to be like EVE at all. There is really no PvP in this game outside of, murdering people via underhanded means, for example, by digging blocks out from under them and hope they fall into lava. and competing for Capital city and warden titles

There should be, optional though.
