I said it before. We put it to a vote. Try to get as much of the community as possible to vote, giving the poll at least a week. Those that don’t bother to show up to vote don’t get to complain if their spot went poof from inactivity.
Honestly, combine US East and West, and have 3 regions (US, EU, AUS), with each region have a planet of each tier 1-6.
And move Till or Delta Cancret to Australia.
I’d be okay with this, as long as the new universe was trimmed down as suggested (18 homeworld planets total).
I don’t want to see any worlds go away. I’m also not saying updates aren’t important, I know they very much are.
If Monumental wants to attract players new and old the more lucrative of the two audiences is going to be new players, and hell, I’ll say it… currently there are 29 players total in game give or take a few AFK etc. last month the peak player count was 63. There are roughly 250 planets including sovereigns and we have 63 players max. It’s just not sustainable, and since I’m a gambling man, my bet is they lose money constantly and a good bit of it. If half the people that want and complained about an update actually played, we might not even be in this situation, granted I don’t even think the 100-200 would support the current cost to run it.
So now we have players (including myself when I first started) who join the game as a new player warp to a new planet and see zero people and leave the game because there are 50 players playing the game across 250 planets. I quit for two weeks due to this and that was back when Portal Seekers and TNT and Ultima were a thing. If it weren’t for @Soju-VB and my friends @Laryagar I would have quit and not come back, I don’t know about you, but I do wonder how many others have done the same.
I do agree Blueprints wouldn’t help as Landmark and tons of other games have done it and it’s a real pain to level the terrain to make things fit just right, I get it!
I agree updates are important, but when a game is obviously bleeding money, you have to make its current state at least maintainable, or off to the chopping block it goes. If I were told that we have to cut back on planets, I’d be all for it for the future of the game. We’d lose some great players and some beautiful builds because of it, but at the same time … with an average of 30 players a month, how many people are going to miss those builds?
I miss Raxxian Sanctuary, one of my favorite builds ever, but Id take another 200 players over that build in a heartbeat, it was pretty and all, but without people to visit it, doesn’t it even matter?
Where are you getting this idea that the number of planets is making the game bleed money? Has someone with Monumental actually told you that? Or is it just a feeling that you have?
If it is just a feeling, then I don’t think it is very helpful to morale to worry people that everything they are working on is about to go poof.
If it is coming from Monumental, then why isn’t the Monumental community manager on here talking about it?
Monumental has no requirement to complete or add the Update from Wonderstruck. It is theirs now to do as they wish. An update would be awesome but it don’t mean we get that particular one.
