A little colour & world tool I built for the community 🎨

Hey everyone! :waving_hand:

After all these years wandering, building, mining and getting happily lost in this game with all of you, I wanted to give something back. So in the little free time I had, I put together a small tool of my own with one simple goal: to help us all enjoy Boundless a bit more.

Here is what it does, in plain words:

  • :globe_showing_europe_africa: It keeps an eye on the universe and detects EXO and Sovereign worlds and their colours, live.
  • :artist_palette: I spent some extra time on the Colour Finder, trying to make it fast and friendly: you can search by item or by colour and instantly see everything available live across the universe right now.
  • :sparkles: On an exoworld’s colour tab, it highlights the items whose colour is EXO-only, and the ones whose colour is a Sovereign colour that simply isn’t anywhere in the live universe at the moment, so you know what’s actually rare or worth grabbing.

A little honesty: this whole thing was built in just a few days, squeezed into whatever spare moments I could find. That means bugs and rough edges are absolutely possible. If you bump into anything broken or weird, please tell me and I’ll fix it. And if there’s a feature you’d love to see, or something that should work differently, let me know too. I’ll do my best to add it. This is for the community, so your feedback shapes it. :yellow_heart:

And I really can’t end without a huge, heartfelt thank you to the people behind the tools we all rely on: BUTT, Boundlexx, and Boundless Information Station. You have no idea how much your work has meant. You genuinely made this game a part of my life over the years, and without everything you built and shared, this little tool simply wouldn’t exist. :folded_hands:

Thank you all for the help, the laughs, the builds, and the friendship. See you out there. :roughoort:

It looks great. I love it.

I’m amazed with how many talented people we have in this community

Hi, wow, this turned out really well, and the search is extremely fast.
I did notice something, though: when I search for my T6 planet, for example, I do find it.
However, when I search for resources (diamond), it doesn’t show up at all;
I’m not sure if there’s a query error. As I mentioned, it’s a T6 diamond (4.5 km – Name – Karbid); maybe it has something to do with the size?
My T4 planet also doesn’t appear in the search results when looking for soft coal, for instance (T4 coal, 4.5 km – Name – Takodana).

And finally…
Thanks for the tool for searching for resources and colors; I’ll keep testing it out ; )

Hey Helmut, thank you so much for this! :folded_hands:

There was a bug and the data behind the resource search was stale, so a lot of worlds weren’t being listed correctly. Your sovereigns got caught by exactly that.

It’s fixed now. The resource search reads the current live data, so every live world shows up, with the right count, percentage and average per chunk. Karbid and Takodana appear correctly again.

Please give it another spin and let me know if anything still looks off. Thanks again for taking the time to report it, this is exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for! :yellow_heart:

Looks good and works fine so far

Only issue i see is settlement not showing up on my 2 sov planets,
but it could just be an upgrade timer thing.

Nice to see sov and exo coulors again.
Good job

Unlocked colors are not up to date

Looks great!

Just leverage AI it will do 99% of this in about an hour or two. You will run into several things you can’t update automatically, but regardless looks good.

Thanks! :yellow_heart:

Given how little free time I have after work, some compromises were necessary, and using AI is exactly what made it possible to work on the project without spending too much time on development.

Nowadays I use AI at work as well, so as things come up that can’t be handled automatically, I’ll just work through them and keep fixing and improving it.

Thanks again for taking a look! Let me know if anything isn’t working properly, your help would be really appreciated! :folded_hands:

Thanks! :folded_hands:

I’ve applied a few fixes to the settlement detection. Settlements update every 6 hours, same as the spawned sovereign colours. Could you tell me the names of your planets so I can check them?

Thanks a lot for the help! :sparkles:

The colors are still out of date for unlocked. Not sure how many but Shadow Blue was unlocked during the Exo’s Georgio and Redlotus help create.

Sigma and Volainard

Just checked and Sigma got its settlement in its list now.
Not Volainard.

Thanks for letting me know! :folded_hands:
Yeah, the unlocked colours are out of date right now, and I’m working on getting them updated. I’ve bought a Sovereign world, so I’ll get all the actually available colours updated as soon as possible. Thanks again!

is it possible to show how many wildflowers (ghostflowers, gladeflowers etc) a planet has? I know they don’t show as a resource, but I’ve often wished I could drop a gladeflower into an atlas and go find any large fields

With this fix all settlements should show up now, even the unnamed ones. About Volainard, I went and checked in-game and there’s no settlement in the list there either, so it might be something with how your settlement is set up over there. Worth a look, let me know.

This is a great app. I didn’t realise one of my planets is the oldest extant sovereign planet, now. It’s the only one left from the first day of sovereigns.

Hey! Unfortunately the game doesn’t provide any data on flowers, so sadly there’s no way to detect or count them anywhere. They just aren’t part of the resource data Boundless exposes.

On Volainard the settlement was bridging 2 or more settlements..

Fixed now, will wait and see if it update.
