Years ago Beth and Spoodle set up a community, at first on Gellis, then on a sovereign planet, where people created new characters and came together. The idea at that time was that if your character died, you had to start again.
If I bought a sovereign planet for a similar project would anyone be interested? I’m not talking about the permadeath thing, but just to casually work together on building a community? I’m not even saying creating new characters, but if you wanted to you could.
I was thinking a tier three planet so that it’s got meteors if we want to hunt, or even just get passive oort from any random dormant meteors.
Project Permadeath. I was part of that group. I still have the character that survived. Every time someone would stop by, we’d all come out and chant “One of us. One of us. One of us.”
Yes. I still remember it was going fine until the cartels started moving in and we were talking about the move to a Sovereign. The move is what killed it, as we lost over half of the players in the move. Should have stuck it out.
t3 hunting/gathering world with some nice biomes to build around would be cool to share
I would defo take part in building a central town/hub/shop and whatever makes sense to have there and do small hunts (I used to do 2-4 people hunts on t3/4 with a few friends of old when I was on Boori and got a hunting t3 world for us before adding a t4 s well. I found small hunts like that suit me better than massive ones - I only joined big ones every now and then and often wouldn’t last to the end, as I find them too taxing on my senses).
I sure would help fuelling the world and a portal to it as well.
I’m not good at knowing the biomes. Any advice on the names of good ones to include? It would be great to have you on board. I wouldn’t ever ask anyone to fund the planet, but if anyone did add to the fuel I wouldn’t be annoyed!
for hunting purposes its pretty easy to pick flatter ones or gentler hills, you avoid larger water biomes and thick forests as meteors there are a pain to complete;
you add a couple of interesting biomes that may not be the best to hunt in but you might want them for resource or because you like the look of it and maybe want to build there
most importantly you don’t do any big open caves cause that hinders hunting as well
maybe list a few biomes you would want to have there for reasons other than hunting (red wood for easy farmable wood and sap/bark; gleam b a l l s for obvious reasons?) - unless youthink about strictly hunting world then we would focus on picking really easy treeless and no forest no ice biomes
I was considering getting a hunting t3 for last few months but wasn’t sure whether it makes sense in ever shrinking in-game activity. Sharing cost would make the choice an easy YES.
Gleam ball and redwood would be good, other than that if we can make it good for hunting and building it would be ideal. I was thinking about getting the 4500 k size which would allow up to 20 people to be on planet at once, but should also give more space and potentially bigger biomes.
obvious biomes for hunting are all the farming circles, lawn and such, stonehenge and landing site are cool additions too; flower fields both types work great as well (and provide easy flower access of course) I will have to take a look at the full list to remember what works from higher tier
caves definitely big round or flat caves as they rarely open to the surface
it’s also good to pick a few more biomes than the required minimum (I usually go for 16-18 tops) - it compresses the size of individual biomes, so even the few not so hunt-friendly don’t spawn too large and don’t spoil the overall hunting experience
I always avoid oceans and seas as well as any river set-up of course, to make running around easy. So: basic set-up: no rivers. Also, no ice biomes - yes, ice slows down wildstock, but also makes your movement trickier and makes you an easier target for bombs and projectiles.
I will pm you with my old ranking for whats best biomes per tier - you pick whatever you think is best then and add something you particularly want/need. 16-18 biomes best although for 4,5km size maybe up to 20?
T3 best
flat desert (tangle & thorn!)
flower field 2 (flowers!)
palm desert (various trunk!)
strata slice
T3 decent
rock blades
twisted forest
T4 decent
gleam lake (obvious lol)
no man’s land
redwood (obvious)
sawtooth mountain (looks great, doesn’t hinder much)
round floating islands
T5 decent
beaches OR desert pools (little water and shallow so no problem)
geyser
large meteor strike (like stonehenge, doesn’t take much space)
T6 decent
lantern field (shallow water you can run in, basically wet flatland)
bushy hills (foliage hinders some, but not the worst choice from this tier)
stone pillars
