Advance forging question?

So I am getting better at forging but I have question so I forge a diamond aoe hammer but it has a Negative 1,140 damge and durability I used pure boons 2 and 3 does this cause the effect of the forge to have negative affect?

You see negative damage because of the “Affect Adjacent: All” effect. The AOE boons proportionally reduce damage slightly per hit, since they deal the damage to more blocks. That’s why AOE tools often have high levels of damage effect boons added, to compensate that. As simply as I can put it, at least.

(old screenshot)
If you mouse over (dunno how it works on PS4) the boons, defects and quirks, you can see info like this.

I’ve seen some other aoe hammers that doesn’t have that negative effect?

You have to add the devastatimg damage boon to compensate for aoe damage loss.

Like on this forge, for example. Got the AOE(4) and Dmg+(8). This hammer, with appropriate skills, is good enough for T6 rock 1-shot.

You need 8/10 devastating damage (+20 Dmg) for a 3x3 AOE to 1 shot a T6 world
