[Answered] Question About Sovereign Planets

Yup, it does protect it as it’s registered as a player made change.

Don’t know if it’s easy to tell from the images, but I changed both colours of the from and to soil types and neither affected the chisel changed block.

Wohoo. I am a genius. So now I wonder if I wanted to keep, say…a tree…if I just transformed the wood type I could keep that tree then? Or…that’s what it seems like.

(because I am SO bad at making trees)

Yup, that sounds perfectly reasonable to me and a really good idea!

we just tested the stone (lava+water) and rock and ice (solidifier) and it does work as I thought it might
those blocks even player made have color 0 and therefore are changed when the palette changes (in or outside of plotted area)

edit: any changer chiselling makes the color not 0 ( even if all the rocks have the same natural color)
and shape chiselling does not affect the color parameter. so if you carve a statue into a cliff ( removing and chiselling blocks, adding rock only as solidified lava, this type of ‘building’ will change color with planet palette change

thanks @Ovis for testing

The tree would remain anyway it would just change colors

but the way to preserve the tree’s old colors is to transform chisel all the blocks. but if you transform them back to the original material type, the color is no longer 0, so even with right material, the colors can’t be changed again ( if the tree is plotted the whole time)

You could go to a forest, change chisel a tree, edit the world palette, change chisel another tree, edit the world palette (repeat) for an easy multi coloured forest

1 tree per pay cycle  (or have they changed that ? )

Oh I thought changing the palette was free on creative worlds? No idea tbh

Yeah creative worlds you can change the palette any time. Sovereign worlds is once a pay cycle (month).

How exactly will pay cycles work? Since months have different numbers of days and all

judging by how GC works, 30 days

they could go lunar, make it nice round 28, but I guess 13 payments a year instead of 12 would cause some whinging

Yeah that was kind of my thought…If you wanted to somehow preserve one plot or something (to keep track of previous colors or for whatever reason) you might not have to place all the blocks individually…you could just chisel change some of them.

So, if I were to only bevel chisel each corner of a leaf…or…dirt block…or whatever natural block…it would still change color? I got a little lost in there somewhere.

yup. (we only tried square chisel tho, but no reason why all the other ones should be any different). on a plotted stone block ( made of lava+ water) and on a wild rock block. and they changed color after as if they were natural. I guess chiselling a block doesn’t replace it, only changes the parameters that are relevant

Thanks!! Good to know!! So only the the transform chisel works for this idea.

looks like that based on the evidence we got
I do hope the Devs won’t change it in any way, I really like these ‘features’
…they should add some ‘locally grown’ blocks too. some lore friendly way to create blocks that use local color and change with the palette. could work with all the plant blocks and I can’t even think of a way how it could be exploited.
