Anyone else tempted?

To completely rebuild their base every so often? I get the urge to just reclaim everything and try out a new build on a different planet. Sometimes I actually do. Am I the only one?

No you are not.

I finally did it. Regrets?

Yeah, a little. I haven’t gotten together the motivation to rebuild anything near my original capacity, and it limits what I can do when I DO want to play.

I’m not a prolific builder though. If building was what I loved I would probably have been doing this on the regular.

I 100% have thought about it many times. But I don’t trust the reclaim. Lol. And don’t know if I’d want to rebuild everything. But 24000 plots would be awesome to start with.

I’ve done it many times over the years. The most recent one was when my gleam club ran out, but I still wasn’t quite ready to play again. Then we got the Monumental announcement. I re-built it so its about 90% back to the way it was before it went into reclaim. One surface building is in a different spot, and 2 buildings and a bridge are brand new.

Reclaimed my first “great city” due to changes in core plotting mechanics then have built and reclaimed 3 more great cities on public worlds and have now moved to a sovereign where I hope to stay, though who knows what the future will hold.
Reclaiming a build, where a great many hours of work and creativity have been sunk, can be daunting but can also be quite therapeutic and, for me at least, reignites the spark to go build something new in a new landscape.
Have never knowingly had any issues with missing mats on reclaim (though honestly hard to tell exactly with millions of items) but have taken one public world off-line for a short while :+1: and lagged others.
I regret losing some parts of past builds (decided to preserve some sections from the last couple of builds) but would definitely recommend people take the plunge.

I unintentionally reclaimed New Springfield and my new place at another location at Kol Huroo. I really wish it hadn’t because I really miss my creations but on the other hand, it opened new possibilities elsewhere. Now I have all stuff in the same location and doing fine but feels like part of my history in the game is missing. 1200 hrs up to that point was just “wasted” (I got to keep items ofc but you know what I mean).

Of all the thousands of plots I reclaimed, over a dozen builds including my main base - it turns out there is one tiny, silly little build that I miss. I had no idea I would miss it - and I probably won’t even try to re-create it. But yeah, that did happen.

Also though I blanket reclaimed everything and I’m not sure that’s in scope of the OP. Other than the practical issues, no regrets letting go of my base.

well im trying to build my base 4th time from my returning, claimed place near my original build plot area and made it junk storage :stuck_out_tongue: joined The Future, took nice spot at Host’s Sov, started to build, made junk storage again, claimed another area, made tangle display, made resource storage, claimed another area, started my Explorer’s diary project, made 3 chapters and now looking for another area to claim… simply after my return i cant decide what i really want to do… color storage - OH GOD NOT AGAIN, i have few ideas i really like but somehow im on hold… i have feeling im waiting for something to push me to action but i have no idea what it might be

im scouting Sovs i found at sky, all mystery Sovs without portals, with nice colors hjidden im mystery  im checking TNT gleam hub every now and then tio report all color changes, its what i love to do in game now - scouting and exploring SOV planets

i love building, i love laticing and chiseling

but now most of my fun is running wild at sovs surfaces hehehe, well tbh its part odf my Explorer’s Diary project, i think i will reveal it to others in few days

I’ve rebuilt about 21 times in the past 3 years. I get bored with a build after a while, and then build something new and move there.

I am more of a renovator. When I do not like parts of my base then I rip them out and rebuild those.
Got reclaimed completely once because I was too late for refuel. In the end it was a good thing as it was still my first base. With all the knowledge about what is needed in a base my new base is planned properly from the start.
Now with a proper planned base I do not feel the urge to reclaim another time.

Noooooo….
Says the guy that keeps doing it :joy::rofl::joy::rofl:

Just kidding.
Are there regrets yes most definitely.
But and its a big BUT i have found restarting Terra Nova refreshing as i came up with a new design and ideas every time i did. Yes progress is lost but space was gained that wasn’t available in the previous iteration of Terra Nova to make such changes.

The current design of Terra Nova (one week left) is agreeable but there are still things i want to do differently. Which also was included in my decision to let it go.

I am however at that point that I almost know the full design by hart and can rebuild sections as quickly as is possible. Will it be the same full build probably not as i want to reincorporate things from previous builds like Anterra and the new section of DK mall to give a few examples.

Don’t trust the reclaim. I heard now from 4 different people that they are missing things

So far I have managed to find everything that I panicked and thought I lost. The reclaim system does group things in some odd ways, and it’s a struggle when it’s thousands of stacks and millions of items.

I’m absolutely not denying there could be bugs though - and it’s surprising sometimes the things they didn’t think were important to track. Like, how many cubits you had, or what you did with them.

That really surprised me.

Oh yes! And i did! But it was the last Time. My farm is to long to rebuild. With that said, i am so happy i did! The result reflect what i was looking for.

Heard that to but the fact is idk exactly what i have anyway after 4years of accumulating junk :joy::rofl:
As long as I don’t lose it all

I’ve always had a vision of my base but never could make it a reality. This vision evolved as I built more and more and it continues to do so being bound by the game mechanics / space I have / etc. My first base was nice but too small and very limited, my second one was too big for my building stamina and it was lacking any distinct features. It was a one big cube. This current base (ironically in the exact location of the very first base) is going well so far. It is big enough to house my modest workshop and small enough for me to not lose hope of finishing it. It is also shaping up nicely - really nicely. I, myself, can’t believe I am happy with it. I am not reclaiming everything though as I heard concerns with the system. I moved most of what I had over like 2 days. Might only reclaim the exo storage area as it is a hassle to sort and I don’t mind (wouldn’t even know haha) losing a few colors here and there. As long as we play, I think we will be tempted to expand, improve, renovate, and sometimes even totally rebuild. Human nature I guess.

I feel you this is a good description of where I’m at. I was excited and had a great run but now I get exhausted thinking about what it would take to “finish” what I started.

I’ve honestly been considering offering the construct to someone. I think even ashed someone might like to have it as a starting point.

I like myself in that I can be a lazy builder but I change and adapt haha.

1- I asked for help with building the foundation of the project. Paid handsomely but got it done. That was the goal.

2- I take it every session as a small goal. Laugh at me but sometimes the goal is simply “prepare/buy/craft the blocks you want to try out/build/use the next time”. Only way to tackle it is to build it slowly. Yesterday placed a few gleams to try the colors. Today I am letting the view soak in my head to see if it’s nice or not haha. Takes longer but gets done xD.

I do this probably 4 times a year, everytime i start a new one I don’t ever finish it as I get to the point where I realise I could do with a different layout and have no desire to move a billion things out of storage just to move things over a few blocks lol!

I’ve gone from huge huge scale and everytime the new iteration tends to be smaller, nowadays the only key things for me is the way I plot it making sure that I have a home beacon for all my alts which is handy to not only keep their gear but also for accessing reclaims, and making sure the core storage is only tied to one alt so when I do eventually reclaim I know where all my stuff is! lol

The beacon at my main base is called ‘Em’s 3rd Try’ for a reason. :slightly_smiling_face: :upside_down_face: :slightly_smiling_face: :upside_down_face:
