A few of us played Vintage Story and it wasn’t too bad. The building was lacking as compared to modded Minecraft with say the Forge Multipart or Microblocks mods.
Have you played Dual Universe? Try the Demo … and read the reviews. I have tried MANY MANY games in an effort to find a game that just does what Boundless does in the way it does it. That’s not saying the game is the best game in the world, heck I’d hesitate to call myself a fanboy even.
What Boundless does is present a relaxing (sometimes mindless), crafting/building game in a persistent universe with what feels like and unlimited and ever-changing universe as long as there are people playing it to change that universe. I’m not sure what the limit of players are in the universe and if the tech and game can handle 100,000 players, but I’d like to think other than the population per planet it is pretty limitless.
Im not sure how many games can say that… the only one for sure I could really compare it to is vanilla Minecraft where you could connect multiple servers together and games like World of Warcraft where the population on a server is quite large.
All that said, I enjoyed Vintage Story a bit… especially with friends, but back on topic, if Monumental either rebooted Boundless or made Boundless 2 on new tech they’d probably make some bank.
