Are there any plans for PhysX and where would it be used and how if at all? If not, why?
Not a dev, but I would only like to see this if there were also AMD features like TressFX, to avoid the inherent bias of having manufacturerer-specific features.
At the moment no plans for this. Historically we use Bullet physics but for Boundless we are using an in house system that is crafted for voxels. At some point we may look at client side effects once all the main game features are in but some of the server side physics (eg full rag dolls) are unlikely as we want other things that require the server CPUs, e.g. more users in worlds, so any CPU expensive feature would have to be of high value.
