Indeed. I still wish this game’s ‘need’ for color scarcity would go the way of the dodo… Its just annoying to need a specific color for something one has a vision for, but cannot do because that color is extremely scarce in the game’s universe because of the terrible systems used when exos and soverigns decide to choose their colors. I still challenge the developers to prove to me that a purely random (And I mean absolutely PURE random and no color algorithms at all) planet is or is not ugly.
The issue I see is that builders don’t have much of an income, so it’s hard for me to justify buying materials for building.
That being said, materials that could be useful:
Certain machines (refinery), wax, tools forged with bouncy (to prevent fall damage), spray colors, brick mixture, speed/stamina buffs (for placing blocks), bonding agent.
Other materials to help me make what I’m trying to make.
I voted for the Third but would also pick the first. Normally I craft everything myself. But with my market I realized I can’t do everything myself because I need to use time wisely, so if I got time I want to make changes on the market and not farm first and then wait for my product. In worst case playing things down takes then a week. So it’s nice to have also shops that offer different things that I can use instant.
Need at the moment glowing glass sign modules in night Orange for example
Raw material shops are my favorite.
There are so many building items that I usually craft what I need which requires having the raw material in the right color.
3 types of rock, 3 types of wood, gleam, gravel, sand in up to 255 colors are already over 2000 items which would make it a good shop for me.
Soil, foliage, grass and you are over 4000 items.
Going all in with plants and all remaining raw blocks would be amazing but then you are over 10000 possible combinations
For processed blocks it is usually marble and concrete for me as they take some time to craft in quantity
other than having every block of every color, probably best to sell stuff that is nedded for crafting them, like nails, bonding agents or metal ingots. pretty much everything that is in the recipe that isn’t the color block
The trouble with selling building blocks is what @Apt said, you’d have to stock ALOT of colours. So I’d 100% agree selling all the stuff apart from the coloured part of the recipe if you want to make a building shop.
Example: If you were planning on selling bricks, sell ‘Ash, Mud + Compact Clay’ instead. Would be my opinion
and another thing is that the shop locator or butt don’t see color. so unless you name your shop ‘every color brick shop’, the locators won’t be much help for advertising.
Most interesting block for me would be compact clay just because of the amounts of clay needed to craft brick. It’s just soooooooooooo tiring to collect that many
The worst thing for me for any type of shop is amount of materials or blocks for sale. I select which shops to go to based on the number being sold. If I want to actually spend coin on something, I’m usually needing a few ss. Not 3, or 14, or 51 of that item. I’m aware these could be the stragglers after others have picked the shop clean.
The second worst thing is prices. I really wish there was a more stable pricing system. I’m selling dohickeys and we all know dohickeys are priced at .7 c ea. So I sell them for that.
The sweet thing about shops is no two are identical. And I have my favorites. Some of you know who you are. (sorry for whipping out that one thing that time)
So to me … as a buyer and not a seller, whatever you are selling, I am going to look at. And I am going to remember that you had that really cool corner of ‘exotic’ plants that are hard to find and your prices rocked!
lastly … I promise …
Please please please … Keep what you are selling out in the open. Don’t clutter up the shop stands with ‘cuteness’ and ooo look I can make pretty messes so you can’t see what is actually for sale.
If I step into a shop and I can’t immediately tell what is for sale , and what is decoration, i leave.
So pack em in and stock em up. I have another 72 coins burning a hole in my pocket.
What i sometimes miss, that was common in the beginning of the game, are shop that sell local color material.
If i know a planet which have blocks or drop in a color i want, then it is nice to have a shop around the hubs that selling them, so i not have to run around the planet to find and collect it.
