Beacon fuel and shadow orb

maybe you can make the best beacon fuel last longer and keep shadow orbs hard to find (but put 3 orbs in one plant)

agreed. if the shadow orbs are this rare, either make the last tier of beacon fuel las 4x as long or give us more yield per craft

Honestly I remember MANY MANY MANY conversations from everyone talking about how we must make people LOG INTO THE GAME to keep their plots. So the fuel for 4 months should be rare to achieve.

Average people that play should easily be able to log into and fuel their beacons every 1, 2, or 3 months. That is 4 times a year at 3 month blocks.

If they are having issues with having too many beacons to fuel and that is why they want longer times then maybe they need to cut down on their beacons.

do you even know how actually rare these orbs are?
I have been looking in the right spots since the update. haven’t seen a single dripping mushroom.
and when you do, it’s not even a good drop rate. i’d be surprised if it’s more than 20%.

true but at moment shadows orbs are just insane to collect

It is 4 months of beacon fuel so it is a big deal. You can fill your beacons 4 times a year instead of 3. Or just make the 2 month one and do it 6 and you don’t have any Orbs to deal with. I don’t see an issue with that as a huge time investment or anything hurting players.

Red gleam is rare and there are plans for other rare things. So why should beacon fuel be any different. Look how people have taken advantage of that rare resource to corner a market and make it impossible for others. So this is just the next thing in that trend.

People clearly asked the developers to make sure people log into the game and PLAY. Force them to keep their builds or plots claimed. So they did exactly that and made it like everything else – work hard to try to get the hardest levels, etc.

if my friend dundragon cant olmost find them then i know its olmost impossible but you make a good point
and allready seen some fuel for sale (ridicilous price at moment)

I want to clarify one thing…

I am not thrilled with the limitation of 4 months either or the existence of rare things. I don’t think in the long run those things will help the game.

But, since that is the dynamic people wanted in forcing people to play and keep plots active, I have to agree overall with the design as it makes sense in the model of play requested.

And I am VERY happy they let you make fuel with average items. So at least you can do that. It could have been worse.

Y’all are forgetting that we are gonna get new resource distributions at some point. When new planets drop, rarer surface resources will be more abundant. The devs should already be aware of the current drop rate. Some of these high prices are warranted because of how long it takes to get them as I’m sure you all already know, but as they become more abundant they will become more easily purchasable. The price of each fuel should still be exponential though meaning that the orbs should hopefully fall somewhere in the 400-1000s. Linear pricing for these would not make sense in a game design perspective.

What if there’s a shadow planet that is completely covered in night, and the only mushrooms are the shadow orb ones. I think you guys are getting hung up on the fact that they aren’t currently in the game. We lived without them before, no harm no foul.

Septerfon :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: they spawn in shadowy areas under overhangs, but not caves as far as I know

After about 4 hours of exploring Septerfon searching under as many shady cliff overhangs as I could find I managed to find 3 mushrooms which netted me 1 orb in total :joy: … luckily my main aim was to fill in the atlas, 17 regions so far. I actually found more tech components, 9, which I wasn’t even looking for so that was a little bonus.
As far as shadow orbs go, I understand they need to be rare, but at the moment I’d probably have better luck looking for hens teeth or unicorn :poop:
