Colors and Their Biomes has a good collection of what blocks are in what biomes.
Surface mines is probably the best one for gravel. If you check out Chromis I, we have a portal to one of them you can check out if you want to see.

Open Mines at lv 4 can be put on a T3, that one is pretty decent for it.
