Bomb Mining Suggestion

If you’re ever at a point where you’re using bombs in an area you would be using copper hammers, you’re doing something wrong. Bomb mining mostly happens in higher tier worlds for gems. It’s never been worth wasting them on copper in lower tier worlds. So naturally, yes it’s going to be compared to higher tier hammers

So that’s the point: we lived in a Boundless world wherein copper bombs were wrong to use at all. That has been fixed and now the lazy and spoiled bombers are complaining.

The radius bonuses can be adjusted based on damage type. Regen gets extra area, so all they would need to do is create another boon for mining bombs. Then they could make the normal bombs stop damaging the ground to make them useful for dealing damage in a group setting.

Currently, I can’t use bombs on group hunts without screwing over everyone else by leaving huge holes in the ground or getting a bunch of mobs stuck in caves. If they made it so a special forged bomb damages blocks and normal bombs don’t, we may actually see people using them in the group meteor hunts for damage.

Bombs are good for making pits under portals to contain wildstocks when doing meteors.

OMG, bomb this bomb that, remove that thing already. The devs made a huge mistake releasing 1.0 with bombs. Making big holes on hunting and no good for mining. The worst addition in this game. Just fire that guy that implemented this huge mistake.

I’d rather lose that capability with the normal bombs and go back to digging them if it allowed me to actually use bombs for fighting. A single mass forge of “mining” bombs would set you all up for a long time anyways, so it wouldn’t change anything for the PS hunts other than allow people to use bombs instead of just spamming slingbows.

i cant fly
i cant walk through walls
i cant have a shotgun to remove blocks.

false advertisment, im not limitless…

I think this is a really important point. The new bomb mining definitely seems to lose that unique feeling.

What changed? I’ve not played since before the last update

I personally enjoyed them. They were a good, exciting, addition to mining that got stale after over 700 hours of hitting things with a hammer. Then you roll in the pitchfork brigade who has to “fix” or “get rid of” anything they don’t enjoy for some perceived apocalyptic threat to their way of life. The XP nerf was probably needed, removing an entire aspect of something just to appease a small vocal group of people is going to leave a few of us salty.

Resources and blocks break at the same rate.

I have a bomb mining spec, so a lot of points in improving bomb damage, but I only hunt with a slingbow.

It’s too hard to aim bombs and to actually hit a moving target is very difficult. I don’t know how one is supposed to hit a cuttletrunk with a bomb.

What I’m saying is I suck at hunting with bombs and want to know more about your technique and how you use them. Anyone feel free to jump in if I’m the only one having this much trouble killing mobs with bombs.

Do you find bombs useful for hunting before forging? Can you use bombs as your primary weapon to clear a meteor?

Well that just entirely makes it unviable for mining. What a shame. I thought the idea was to make the two styles “on par” not entirely neuter bomb mining.

Bombs where a mistake forget about them.

This change for all intents and purposes removes bomb mining. With blocks and ores breaking at the same time your going to be breaking far more in resources than you’d obtain.

The really terrible thing is that there are tons of folks that have used this to acquire thousands of gems and progress rapidly and now they are removing it leaving quite a few of us stuck with no easy way to catch up.

Wife and I had just discovered bomb mining. Invested 100k in it two days ago and have been recouping our investment. Then they nerf it with no warning making all that money spent useless. Thankfully we’d already recovered our $$ but its still going to make progression painfully slow again.

Issue is they let tons of folks use them to progress. Removing it now is a bit unfair for those of us who didnt get to utilize it.

Folks with 10+ max’ed machines running 24 adv power cores each now have a huge advantage.

This is goin’ to allow them to balance the game, it was impossible to balance around a clear cutting mechanic that was basically akin to just blowing up entire levels for free resources with little to no effort.

This is a legitimate complaint, and the game should be balanced better to reduce the grind. That being said, I intentionally didn’t bomb mine, so I’m in your boat too despite knowin’ about it since august.

3 million dollar browser engine and they can’t release a game that has a solid base.

And if the vocal group wants pokemon monsters then next month there are Pokemons in this game.

Im all for rebalancing. I too thought the bomb mining was a bit OP.

However the transition from Iron to that level is a bit crazy atm. It needs to be smoothed out and some tech added to make it a bit less face melting.

I wouldnt have issue with someone at top end and top end tools being able to mine like a bomb miner could, but there should be some adv tech required to get there and do that.

My main complaint is moving from Iron to centraforged titanium is a bit of a mountain atm.

Not sure who you are referencing.

The game has poor technological pacing. There are several spots where progression gets stuck and feels punitive. These are going to lead to user die off.

Bomb mining doesnt need to be the answer but something needs to be done to smooth it out.
