Hey all. I’m wanting to build a regen farm and am wondering if anyone has suggestions about how to go about it. I thought there’d be a post about it but can’t find anything but maybe someone out there knows of a link or thread. Thanks.
kinda depends on what its for … but they all normally follow a similar theme. Plot around the area except for the spot you want to be able to be regenned, then make it as user friendly as you can.
Thanks Soju. That’s what I’m kinda doing. So if you plot something by “accident” can you unplot it and that area becomes regen again?
yes, I frequently have to plot / unplot to get a good farm depending on what I am making.
So I could plot the entire area, get it enclosed and then unplot the inside to make it regenerative?
yes, as long as the unplotting wont leave any separated plots
This is how I normally setup my regen farm
This is a regen sand farm on antar VI
Tips
- Setup a wall, fence or ceiling to keep pesky creatures outside
- Put up a ceiling above the regen area to prevent creatures spawning inside the area
for a sand farm as example
- minimum size should be 3x5 plot or bigger
- the block size from the smaller side should be divisible by 3 if possible (nice if it possible, but no need)
- a flat way no different altitude during a single way
- look that no spitter or anything else spawn in the farm which can kill player
- some light that a player without light epic can see anything
- no other blocks in the farm, like stone, if you have a sand farm only sand should be there
- a walk way around the farm
- a portal near the farm helps a lot
that’s what comes to my mind right away
yeah thats a good setup
It would be best to be able plot so that blocks would be just 3 tall without any grass etc.
If there is blocks above then try plot so that there is built light below.
Noone mention tier?
Tier 1-2 recommend for example sand/silty soil
One thing i found really helps is if you equip a campfire or beacon you can use it to scout out how high/low the resource you want to regen is from a plot line… you dont need to place anything because the game will just highlight the plot you are targeting.
This lets me see the potential top/bottom/sides of a plot so i know if im going to have other stuff polluting my farm or can tell how much work its going to be to set this one up.
You can go to to my resource planet for the Vikings Guild, Hela via TNT Sov portals- > Valhalla Portal -> Resource Farms Portal -> Silt/Sand/whatever and see how i build all my farms like this.
Thanks for the input. The farm I’m working on is for gleam on Kol Huroo. There use to be one but it disappeared or something. I’m a big fan of the cold tan gleam for lighting and I had a sovereign with wonderful c.t. gleam ■■■■■ and thought I was going to do one there but … change of plans. Anyways, I’ve started one right near the TNT Kol Huroo hub. I’m getting the floor laid out and spent like 30+ min popping blocks down without any cuttles zapping me. I’ve got max control and Sup innocuous brew. Is it best to deal with critters before they see you or… I’ll find out soon enough. Cheers!
gleamballs is one word otherwise the forums censors it
