Can we get a new or updated Boundless roadmap?

I just want to state that I’m not asking for anything major to be designed, it would just be nice if we could get a timeline for planned new content for the game. I’ve also put a poll at the bottom of this post to see what others think.

I feel the radio silence is detrimental to the current game state, but rather than complain, I wanted to offer at least one small suggestion for possible improvement.

From a developer’s point of view, I see a roadmap as something beneficial to both the company and the customer, and it could also bring in new/returning players. It gives the customers something to get excited about, and it keeps the developers engaged. In some cases, it may even lead to new ideas.

Color-changing Exoworlds would have been a good item for a roadmap. I know the previous developers were working on Swords and Shields, and if Monumental has continued any of that project, it would be great to know.

Would you like to see a roadmap added and/or updated?

I think everyone would love to see a new roadmap or at least some fresh info. The long silence wasn’t appreciated before the acquisition & it’s not appreciated currently.

It’s technically not absolute silence though because they are in the background keeping things going and announcing patches/events as needed. They’ve said they will let everyone know as soon as they’re ready & able.

From what Monty said, it did seem like the focus wouldn’t be on the update that was being worked on. I was personally really looking forward to that update, but I understand that they do need to make gaining new players a priority. If they don’t stick around beyond spawning on their 1st planet, nothing else matters.

I’d even settle for “Hey, just paid the bills, Boundless lights are on for at least another (year/six months)” kind of message

We didn’t even get a roadmap of transfer lol.

Is that going to be the first Boundless meme?

I’ve said many times, that we’re committed to keeping the game alive, but nothing else new to report right now.

That update was huge and complicated; maybe they’re going to find a way to release the weapon update without needing as much overhaul.

Hey there! First time caller, long time listener!

Would there be any chance on possible quarterly dev streams? When the ball gets rolling of course. A lot of players requested some sort of interaction with the previous development team in the past in a similar fashion with no avail.

Would love this

They likely do not want to release the update because it also includes the ability to self-host the game. Which would likely only harm the existing numbers even more, if not basically killing the game. Why pay for Gleam Club and Sovereigns for a game with no players when you can just host it yourself or get a few friends together and make a universe with your own rules.

If I had to guess, Wonderstruck likely axed the new update once they entered into negotiation with Monumental for the sale of the game. As the update was basically Wonderstruck’s “this game is never going to get updates and the servers are going to shutdown” update.

I highly doubt it. September will make 2 years since the game was sold and it’s pretty much “maintaining the servers” and silence.

Honestly, you’re probably right about that. Self-hosting would be great if the game had thousands of players as it’d be like hosting your own server on minecraft, but releasing such an update with this few of players would likely do what you said and take away from the main server of players and put another nail in the coffin.

It would only be a good idea under two conditions, the game being super popular or as a way for players to play once the game’s official servers shut down. Its peak or its rock-bottom.
