Can you move your beacon?

I’d like to move it to a more convenient spot, but I’m afraid of penalties.

If possible, I assume you build the new campfire before destroying Ty he old one.

Are there beacons besides campires?

Yes, just place another and choose “Make Master Beacon”. Then destroy the old one.

Yay! I can move it out of the middle of the room!

Follow up question…does the beacon controller have to be near the beacon?

What do you mean by beacon controller?

Bear in mind, when you move it to leave at least two or three blocks of clear space above it if you’re on the top floor of your build but still want to warp into your base from the sanctum. I found out if you tuck the beacon out of sight and leave no head room, you get pushed up to the next available space. Not fun when you’re 100-odd blocks underground on a dangerous planet at too low a character level.

Nice tip, thanks.

And I meant this:

Oh I see, I always mistakenly call that the beacon. If you mean does it have to be inside a plotted area then yes. If you mean near the original controller then no, it just has to be somewhere inside your plotted area.

Campfires become obsolete once you’ve placed your beacon. They just look so cool though!

Wait…the Beacon control REPLACES the campfire? I thought you needed both?

Simply, yes. More in depth, the campfire is a placeholder while the game teaches you about stuff and is rendered obsolete at the end of the tutorial. That’s why the campfire has an expiration timer of 2 hours while the beacon has an expiration of 4 weeks(I think) for the lowest grade fuel( I use the second level of fuel personally).

Well. I feel dumb.

Don’t! We were all new at some point, and mistakes are how we grow.
Thomas Edison didn’t fail 1000 times at making the light bulb, he just found 1000 ways that don’t work.

No, don’t feel dumb, people have complained the campfire function should be removed and replaced with just a beacon for simplicity, I’m one of those people.
