Actually it is really fun because you can do both! If you want you can speed up hellishly by using shops to your advantage or you can hermit up and solo it - just take the long^3 route. And imho thats perfectly fine.
Same is with centraforge - you can get mediocre stuff fairy easy and it is useful, but you have to plan and prepare to get top stuff. This also mean top stuff wonāt become standard toolset - which kind of also good imho. This best of the best should be elite, not standard and ānecessaryā stuff.
Yeah we havent really had to branch out because our shop keeps the funds flowing. Also a lot of popular color rock is on low HP worlds so i can use iron for those and save all the high end tools for special ops . Works out.
Iād be happy to even just get 20-30 diamonds an hour. Atlases are always soo out of date for me that no matter how far I travel the hot spots are always already mined. Iāve actually had better luck just mining randomly than using an atlas.
With regards to the forge, just my own opinion not directed at anyone, my forge is going to sit in the corner gathering dust for a very long time before I try using it again. Before the wipe I had a level 50+ character and a forge with advanced power coils and even then thought it was a waste of time. Any boons I got were always accompanied by negative traits that might as well of made it pointless. Itās far too complicated with virtually no instructions and reading all these threads about trying this and trying that with this paste and that whatever to me doesnāt sell it as anything fun Iād want to have another go at.
If you just use pure boon compounds you have zero chance of getting defects or quirks my friend. Using 4 gums of a type lets you get usually 1 of 3ish boons available and you could get all 3. I usually get level 4 or 5 boons which is enough to make much better tools, particularly shines on grapples. I made a glow grapple and i was able to take my 5 points from light epic and put them to better use - this was hands down the best choice ive made as far as skillpoints go
To be fair, forging is more of the end tier stuffā¦sure you can use it on the earlier stages but you canāt expect good results. Only issue is them adding power to compound 2. Thatās dumb since compound 2 doesnāt even give much
I was using pure boons ā¦ Iād get stuff like increased damage but it would also have reduced durability or be really slow etcā¦ There was always a negative affect which offset the positive one and It just reminded me off a cross between a one armed bandit and a roulette wheel.
never heard of that happening. Negatives donāt come from pure boons.
Only negative that shows up is damage penalty from AoE
Edit: more info to not be misleading
Iām at work at the moment but if I get a chance when i get home I think Iāve got a couple of screen shots showing the stats of something I made ā¦ One thing I do remember is spending absolutely hours gathering all the materials to make a reasonable range of the pastes etc then after about 17 spins ending up with something that took 2 hours to craft to then end up with a eoa hammer that got used up in about 20 minutes ā¦to me that is not a good return on the amount of time and resources invested.
Yeah Persisting pies and stuff are always wanted but stillā¦ No negative points get added in itās just certain rotations work best to get better stuff. I like to say itās end tier because you usually donāt get your investment backā¦ What you just told meā¦ This is why when people say AoE Hammer needs a nerf because it was āBetter than bombsā I wanna smack them XD You need to FORGE the hammers before you can do anything with them and bombs unforged were still better lol (never used bombs for bomb mining. Been hammer since forever) though I know they didnāt handle the changes correctly
Quick question about forging, can you forge a stack of hammers at the same time? or is it 1 at a time?
You can forge one at a time or up to an entire stack of 9 items or any combination of quantities between.
Thanks, surely that makes it wayyy more efficient then?
Nope still uses pastes and compounds and everything at a 1:1 ratio, and you could end up with 9 items with boons you didnt want or didnt get enough points in, but you could also get 9 items with everything you wanted and only have to forge once and have a lesser waiting time
Ah ok, So itās almost always better to do them individually then.
I actually just realized, maybe pastes and catalysts and solvents may only use 1 at a time, so when you get boon boosting pastes and vigor and durability pastes then it may also be another benefit of not needing to use multiple. But i havent tried, but as far as compounds and gums go, it is a 1:1 ratio, so early forging doesnt benefit, but once you get those pastes and such they may
All the purple writing were negative affects that have been added to the item.
This was before the wipe so I donāt know if anything has changed since then with regards to how the forge works. Personally I find the whole thing totally non intuitive, there are no in-game directions for using the thing and what all the spinning bits and bouncing lines are supposed to be doing, when to add what pastes, potions and whatnot. I have no intention of wasting hours and hours of gathering, mining and crafting to then use it all up practising through trial and error. I know Boundmore and Jiivita have made videos explaining how it works but the whole thing is just too much for me ā¦ not my idea of fun.
Do any of you try to buy your paste/compounds? Or do you try to make and gather them yourself?
Does anyone have that Google Doc that shows all of the effects?
This is what I use.
Woa man those are super bugged, the forge doesnt give your tools -1257 durability lol. It works fine after wipe
I buy the harder to get materials
