Character name change

This is just a random thought I had early today and remembered about it again now.

We can pay cubits for appearance changes, but how do we go about doing a name change? Is that possible this early into development?

I think it was possible in alpha but was removed down the road.

I don’t know, but I wonder if Sony/PlayStation has any issue with it… Seems like PS4 members would be unable to change their name since it’s tied to their PSN account.

I was thinking about it cause I realized not a single character of mine has the same name as my forum/discord name, and that’s been a bit of a problem trying to meet up with someone not on my friends list. They’re running around looking for Sterbehilfe and I’m playing as Übermensch, After the Burial,Nachtmahr, or JXH. Becomes a bit of a hassle at times.

Well, I don’t see why sony would have a problem changing the character name. It’s the psn name under it they would prob have a fit about.

I kinda wouldn’t mind a char name change too, bc I didn’t realize my psn name showed and… It’s also my char name. So it looks really lame. I feel like a loser. :stuck_out_tongue:

Nonsense, the overarching Wunderstruck account (in my case AeneaGames) is tied to my PSN account.

The character names are tied to the WS account…

Also I don’t see why Sony would have any issues since we can actually rename our Sony account

Uhh few months ago unless it’s still in the “beta” stage where only some people can do it

I personally want the name change to my character too.
But I really think we need Account name to prevent troll keep switching their name to troll people and we can’t tell if its same person or not. At worst, the troll change name or create alt to join your guild, it can be very terrible issue.

Was in beta, not yet rolled out to everyone, supposedly this year. Might cause issues too apparently.

In any case, character names are not tied to your PSN id but to you WS id and your WS id is tied to your PSN id so char names CAN be changed if WS would allow it.

Yeah, recognising alts would be nice as well. PS4 users can already with other PS4 users, just display the Wonderstruck account if underneath the char name and all is well…

Hiding/Showing Account names is a security relevant decision in my eyes. There is no technical reason for someone to know a login name of others. So better keep it hidden in terms of security and privacy.

Being able to change character name one time would be nice. I’ve been thinking on a new online name for awhile now and would be nice to be able to switch to it.

Definitely would be a nice feature to have, my character’s name sounds similar to a friend of mine, and I’ve had people mix us up more than once.
