Color Cycling Exo

I managed to get about 30 chests each for soil and foliage and about 8 of grass seed so far. I think I’ll most likely do some other things prior to the end of the exo like thorns, sponge, tangle and mould. Maybe some flowers and other tid bits if I get a chance.

my farming spot with someones gleam tower in background, looks like someone hunting particular gleam color

I spent a while farming marble. Marble mostly seems to cycle through the less saturated end of the color spectrum. Lots of grayscale and rust and oxide. Planning to hit the foliage for a while later.

The world/biome builder was only made available to a certain tier of original backer, if I understand correctly.

There is an API endpoint for this. Nobody from the community got keys for it, though.

I looked at this a few times and I dont think it has much about the resources/colors on worlds.

Got about 48 chests of mostly rocks, and then some flowers and other little tidbits.

I would totally love a few more rotations of other colors. I think it skipped the pretty blues and rare reds this time. I am not complaining. I’m hoping that there are more color cycling exos and that the colors get changed up a bit more to allow for more of the rare rocks.

I’m happy that I’ve gotten quite a bit more rock so I can refill some of my chests for brick making.

:heartpulse: Thank you!!!

This has always been a conflicting issue for me. On one hand:

  1. If we have a color-cycling exo and they occur more often with all the colors, then Gleambow becomes obsolete and won’t have any meaning. The last color-cycling exo that lasted 2 weeks, if it had all of the colors then every color would be available.

  2. Color-cycling exos were intended to be rare and special (so I’ve been told) having more than 1 or 2 a year seem about right if their intent were for special occasions.

  3. Spray paint needs a use, otherwise goo, pigment, paint and also the spray machines would almost not be needed.

  4. Buying a sovereign would also lose some meaning since every color would technically be available.

On the other hand:

  1. No one does Gleambow hunts as much as we used to. So, the rare colors are even more rare.

  2. The price for rare gleam is crazy nuts, so it being more common would at least make it more affordable.

  3. Why Wonderstuck chose some of the primary colors as being “locked” is an odd one, I would have totally made the variants of them uncommon.

  4. Not everything can be painted, but in my opinion it should be. It would still be a tedious task to paint 20 gleam chests of something, but then spray and goo farms are more needed and since it is more tedious to do glembow hunts would still somewhat have a use.

for “rare” colors i meant blocks that arent spray tintable as foliage, tangle, gleam, wildflowers, thorn, growth, mould, those im hunting for at color-cycling exo

gleambow meteors, i were at 1st gleambow, i tried but there always were someone faster than me to reach meteor… later we got gleambow sacks to spawn our own gleambows but that was after my surgery…

as for paints - the goo farming need upgrade, we should be able to make sustainable farms… goo farmers rely on their own effort and buying goo from other players, there is now not many goo hunters, from what i saw lately looking for few exact colors, i found them only at Lasaina and only in limited amount, so soon we even wan’t be able to paint what we want

I totally agree with all of your points.

These should all be paintable in my opinion.

On top of that, you would think after this long more off the colors would have been unlocked already especially for some of the other blocks.

i really dont understand why all pure colors were locked but out of sudden we got green unlocked, cerulean and even lavender, so maybe there is still chance to unlock red and yellow at sov?

The goo/paint system is so time intensive to use that I forget it even exists half the time.

Gleambow hunts are the most annoying way to gather rare colors that I can think of. Forget the hunts themselves, just trying to put away the stuff gathered is enough to keep me from doing it.

I have always felt like adding rarity by locking basic block colors was a bad design. Add rare and special things if you want rare and special things. It is what it is, though. I’ve gotten used to just not having access to a lot of the colors and planning accordingly. I doubt anything is going to change. It does at least make the color cycling exos special and exciting.

It can change, but I think the larger problem are the repercussions of those changes needs to be thought out.

I think it is quite intensive, but once it’s setup it’s pretty cool, but like all farming is it’s a pain to harvest and replant.

Hello,
Of the 36 colors, one has already been unlocked by someone (not me).
I’ve had it set on my planet for a while now.
