Color Storage Ideas - Pictures Wanted

I have a huge color storage and me being me, I want to redo it. I originally set up the storage going by ID number 1 - Black, 2 - Night Azure etc. I have found I almost always have to look up the number in order to find what I need and I don’t want that anymore.

So… I was considering setting it up like my concrete shop. but the problem I ran into was that each color has a varying number of sub colors like Yellow has 16 variants Rose has 4 variants etc. With a varying number of variants, it makes it hard to make something symmetric.

With that said, anyone have pictures of their color storage they don’t mind sharing so I can get some ideas. Preferably sorted by color. Big plus if you want to share its location I’d love to take a look.

If you go to the valhalla portal in tnt go though the em portal in that hub you end up in my workshop and there is a color storage portal to the right as you exit that portal. (right as in around the corner to the right).

I copied fante (Color storage ideas) except i squeezed the height down to 6 blocks instead of 9 so that i could make my color storage 2 plots high instead of 4(its 1658 plots total)

Here is the spreadsheet i used to help me break up the colors into two floors:

that first tab is also a template to help make a color storage map like you see int he first picture.

I had help from Izzabell, and by help i mean she built most of it while i tried to keep up

here is a video on how to get to there

@xyberviri Nice … there now checking it out. Would each section be for all blocks that color? Like Red would hold anything red?

I currently have mine split up by block type (Rock, Gleam, Wood, etc.) then split out by ID#.

no the issue is that some one on the boundless team really loves green, there are some 70 shades of green so you end up where some stuff starts to over lap.

at some point you have to stop caring if you want your storage to be square, so its mostly grouped with some random ones tucked in here and there.

if you dont care about how it looks then you can break it up based on colors families.

I was probably a little poor in explaining… so in say Bright Red of your storage would you have (Bright Red Foliage, Bright Red Rock, Bright Red Wood etc.)? I assume so since each area is quite large.

Ah yes, i lost count at 46 unique items that have a color that can be used to craft something else. the storage holds 60 items(per color) so i have 14 more wiggle room if i missed something.

I have a set amount of available storage in each aisle. And i just pick the right color groups so it will fill it out. This will mean that the 2nd floor aisles won’t all be the same length but im fine with that and will be using that as part of the asthetics there to allow space for a sitting area.

And its just a general color storage, anything of x color will go to x storage. Im not dividing the colors by material since…i don’t have the luxury of extra plots to allocate for that.

@xyberviri @RatofTime I appreciate the input I am trying a few ideas out on paper I think first. I am also debating on separating each item type, but we shall see. It’s going to be a long road as my current color storage for gleam is really full.

I just started a new storage area copying my others … if you want to see what I have currently you can see it at TNT > Elyseum 2 > Color Storage

Plots arent really the issue in this game, you will get the XP you need to buy the plot if you clear it.

Sure if you are building above ground or in the sky you wont get that much xp but this project i had maybe 200-300 plots to spare… I know i needed at least 80 levels to get all of the plots down when i started counting

The process of clearing each plot and then taking everything i cleared and throwing it into the crafting tables first then into the refinery then into the minter made sure i pulled as much xp as i could out of the project.

I saved silt and sand to make glass and everything else was refined and minted.

Then i also needed 235 smart stacks of black marble, i didnt even bother counting the other colors but at that amount you get around 3.7m xp I used at least 2 chests of grey marble and then one chest of mosaic, around 1200 sign modules.

If you do the work yourself to make all the blocks in your build then the XP comes with it. (until the next patch that is)

i mostly spend my time building so i don’t gain that much xp at all so i level once, once a week at best.

and i buy any new building blocks besides white marble. the only stuff i make is white marble more or less. But i don’t make that often ofc.

Maybe if i refined my rocks I’d get more than one level but I don’t in order to keep them as a building option.

that’s the issue, 1 smart stack of marble works out to the following:

  • Marble is 900 xp per mass craft, a full smart stack of marble is 16,200 XP
  • Refined Metamorphic rock is 200 XP per mass craft, you need 810 refined meta morphic to get 17 mass crafts to make a full smart stack of marble for a total of 3400 xp.
  • Metamorphic stones are 200 XP per mass craft you need 98 which is 19,600xp
  • Refined Gleam is 300 xp per mass craft, you need 324 which works out to 7 mass crafts at 2100 xp
  • Bonding Agent is 300 xp per mass craft, you need 162 which is 4 mass crafts at 1200 xp
  • Glue is 5 XP per craft and you need 288 for 1440xp

Buying 1 smart stack of marble and placing it in a build 14,400 XP

Crafting 1 smart stack of marble from start to finish with basic ingredients is 43,900 XP

Harvesting the materials to make 1 smart stack of marble is 26,218 XP (Gleam 2,016 XP + Stone 7,056 XP + Sap 1,716 xp (est) + Orbs 15,430 xp (est) + (not counting bones) )

Doing all of that, for 1 smart stack of marble 84,518 xp… of which 900 marble fills in 14 plots, less if you do anything other than the floor.

its not 1:1 but its pretty close once you stop buying all of the crafted items… though at some point i would take the 15k hit and just buy the orbs cause harvesting orbs sucks.

Um ok…but ill pass. You do you and I’ll do me.

I will soon open the doors of the gleam museum that I am currently building, as long as I leave you the list above, I hope it will be of help

I always use other builds for inspiration. I already have a color storage and it is functional, but going by ID# causes me to have to look it up the ID# every granted I have some memorized. I found that just sorting it by base color (Red, Yellow, Blue, Viridian, etc.) and then by sub colors (Ashen, Deep, Strong, etc.) is just easier to sort and just looks overall better. I

Your list is great and I have one similar in a spreadsheet. I was also keeping track of all the sovereigns with colors, but I got too tired of changing the sheet every time a sovereign changed or just expired.

So, whenever the question of storage gets asked, it inevitably gravitates towards color storage. However, I’d be interested in storage ideas for the actual items of the game. For example, minerals, ores, fossils, coal, ancient tech, etc. How do you organize all the actual items?

I’ll post my storage for my base in a few.

Pop in my Portal at the Kree Hub and walk around my base and machines and you can see how I store them. It’s super simple and efficient for me.

those get stored in the workshop same path as the viking color storage just dont go though the last portal and you are there

how to get there

https://puu.sh/HW2F0/40a8838622.mp4

All of the stuff that goes into the relevant machine is stored around the relevant machine.

This is Izzabell and my workshop, we have it setup so we can use each others machines which gives us a 24 fully coiled machines of each type. except for refineries which we need more of and have 36 fully coiled machines.

its almost as big as our color storage.
