Agreed - dying is just a functional term and not necessarily the thematic implementation.
Just out of curiosity, will we eventually get blocks with reflective surfaces?
What about following idea: extra indexes for leeway colours?
Today it’s red, yesterday it was yellow.
Rainbow colored leaves, color changing blocks

Will colours change from world to world gradually like red-orange-yellow-green or chaoticly like red-purple-green-orange?
I hope for first like it happens in The Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny but it will work great only in big ramified 
universe.
