I’d like to create a poll including all suggested ideas in these posts. Do I have the ability to do that? If so how? and if not can I request an admin make a poll? Polls are good. Polls are fun.
@Thorbjorn42gbf i summon thee
but really? polls for these systems are not that good, i know some people see it as ‘‘the definitive answer’’ which is rather than saying ‘‘would you rather have A or B’’ we will keep discussing and kinda merging the 2 ideas into one, taking the best from both of them.
for example i love wheel menus, they make it way easier to play with controller and while simple they also do everything they need to do, however having a wheel in the middle of combat would not work.
I personally think it would be fine in combat. It’s the simplest and fastest way to use attacks. You’d eventually know where which attacks are without looking and it would be as quick as a swipe of the mouse.

Happy? Hmmm I should probably post that link in my guide to discourse… And get the devs to pin the guide so people can find it.
i already mentioned the 2 possible outcomes which would make it horrible. i am not talking about how fast it can be done, im pointing out that no matter how you will make the system, you remove the controls ingame, even just for a fraction of a second, it would turn out akward
just no dragwheel in the middle of an action combat. it works for turnbased, strategy. but not for action, imagine it in call of duty or any other shooter, do you really think that would work well?
i know its mainly a matter of taste, but it is just not a good system, coming from somebody who have been gaming action games for many years i can tell you, that split second might make the difference on life or death.
some games do ‘‘aimed attacks’’ meaning if you drag left you attack left, drag right attack right, but considering this is not just swords and considering the actual game, i personally dont feel that such a system would be needed. i think combos would be good as long as they are not insane (like doing triple backflips while attacking) and charge attacks are also a really good idea, in my eyes different charge times should make different charge attacks, or just keep it simple and let weapons have 1 standard attack (continues click for combo) and then 1 charged hard attack that might stumble a bit. and then have a few hotkeys you can slot skills to (like 4 - 5 skills you can use at once) this creates difference in playstyle, feeling unique, limitations that are needed, and more… im not against binding skills to weapons (combos, charge attacks), but having only a few standard attack in your weapons would just turn this into minecraft combat with no soul, where everybody fights the same way, which is absolutely horrible from an rpg player’s standpoint.
Don’t know if it was mentioned before, but what’s about built up “resources” for using or empowering attacks like fury/adrenaline (filled when your attacks or skills hit a target) or anger (filled up by taking hits/damage). I liked such mechanics in games like Guild Wars, Diablo 3, WoW or TSW. That would give another level of complexity to the combat
